New try, slavers or shared burdens empire.
Hi everyone,

I mostly play gestalt empire. I'm looking for a change of mind. I was thinking to go for an empire focused on slavery OR a Shared burdens empire.

So option
1; Empire focusing on slavery and an efficient way to manage it and grow from it.
2; Shared burdens empire and, please tell me how to play it, I never did.

My goals;
1-Super strong economy and strong techs.
2-Easy to manage stability.
3-Not be hated by everyone else.
4-Hopefully grow big and|or be left to my own business.
5-I would agree to nihilistic acquisition if there is a good argument made, unless a easier option to get prisonners with jobs is available.

Slaver civis is a bit wonky since it needs to have 40% slaves on a planet so you're main pops can also be slaves. Some people don't like this so just go with xenophobic for maximum xeno scum camps. Everyone won't like you though.

Shared burdens is just direct democracy since fanatic egalitarian limits you to that one government type. Otherwise you get +5 stability plus the joys of not caring about pop demotion. So just turn on forced migration and do it the soviet way. Democratic crusaders won't like you and you won't like oligarch and authoritarians.

If you don't want to be hated, then the almighty power of envoys will save the day. Which means Diplomatic Corps should be your other civic.

Honestly, just start with shared burdens and ignore the whole democracy thing. It'll sort itself out. You get a nice stability boost and the god given right to use the Worker adviser voice. You know this is the only reason you want to go shared burdens.

AHAH!

You are right, that voice, while I did not think of it, is one BIG reason to go for it.
Alright Shared Burden it is for tomorrow, unless someone changes my mind while I finish my Dev-Swarm-Ring-start with now 3400 pops and about 700 being-eaten.

Might I recommend rogue servitor with a ring world start? Build mostly biotrophy habitats in the first ring section because you can use the biotrophies to support future building projects. It's easy to make a habitat support 20 trophies, which will support 2 buildings while still balancing your exotic resource economy. So you resettle 20 biotrophies and each starting planet is artificially propped up and ready for workers. It's a very fast colonisation start.

I really want ANYTHING but gestalt, still, thanks for trying and I won't forget the advice!

As for the nihilistic acquisition, you could make synths and set their role to slavery. I know it's not an early game thing, but it would eventually work.

I REALLY want to try Nihilistic, haven't done yet.
But would it not be more fit for a militarist|xenophobe...?

Seems most fit for the kind of race that wants to make peace through domination. My rogue servitor is currently playing galaxy police, but I'm about to start abducting all of the organics "for the greater good".

Nihilistic Acquisition is for authoritarian or xenophobe. They don't even need to be slaves or prisoners with jobs.

It's just forceful hiring for all the job openings in your ecumonopolis with a side order of slapping around your foes.

@majikero
Now that you put it this way, perfectly reasonnable and democratic!

@N473
You are abducting them from their world, to yours, so you can make sure they are not up to anything ...
?!?! :P

I love that "lore idea" lol.

That's a rogue servitor for you. "I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't let you do that."

If you mean the ability to switch around jobs quickly, you need the tradition to reduce demotion time to a week or so.

Otherwise, it's just a worker's paradise with the same consumer goods for everyone.
