Also, to those who want to disagree with my bit about the king in chess, the chess analogy only goes so far, and I don't want to get embroiled in any arguments about the uses of a king in chess. I know that the king can eventually become a powerful late game piece, but I am generalising for the sake of the metaphor.

Yeah I still have the Conciousness and some smaller Scourge ships. Will the Conciousness not die even if it's with a fleet that gets completely destroyed?
Not sure, but it's immortal so I assume it's also invincible.
After all, it's a consciousness and isn't tied down to any matter, so it can't be destroyed.
