Restart steam after subscribing to a mod on the workshop, it should then show up in the launcher where you have to select it.
You dont even have stellaris.

is that even relevant? fine , this is not my account this is a friend account , i dont want to go throu all that steam authorize bs so im using his forum subscription
well.. as i do own the game and ya'll are a bunch of tight arsed people.

i came across this looking for where to put any mods manually for stellaris but managed to find where on my own after soem more manual searching.

@Matias
now i will not go as far as telling you where to get said workshop files but i will say it is fully possible as that is what i am doing to edit a workshop mod to my prefferance and as it redowloads it whenever i try it with my custom files..

this is where to put said mod files/folders or however it is packaged
C:\Users\#USERNAME#\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris

and before some piece of crap comes and complains about me being a pirate sympathiser
(which there is no evidence of matias being one.. he could be truthfull and could be using a friends account.. unlikely.. but possible)
either way i know how it is to be young and in a family that is poor but yer dad or mom whatever can barely afford to give you a computer and a game or two a year blah blah blah all that i know.. that is why i am trying to help a wee bit.. however if he is over 18 and he is still pirating without a second thought then screw him rightfully so. support the dev's you like and the games you like.. but not everyone.. FAR from everyone can do exactly that... i want the newest dlc's but i just can't afford it cause they are so rediculously overpriced considdering they are just small dlc's

Thanks a ton for necroposting in a thread that was obviously a pirate asking for help. Thanks a ton.
yup no problem love ya too
also for anyone running into the problem that i just ran into.. workshop mods have to be edited

put the Descriptor.mod file into the
C:\Users\William\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod
folder and then put all other files related into a new folder in
C:\Users\William\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\mod
named whatever you like then go to this link
https://www.reddit.com/r/StellarisMods/comments/4rhrjm/mod_files_being_deleted_automatically_upon/
and follow the instructions

(just make sure to change the
" path="mod/foldername" "
to
" path="mod/#YourNameHere#" "

and it should then work. did for me)

also change the name of the .mod file to something related to the mod like the mod name or whatever and that will still work allowing you to have and enable multiple mods

EDIT:
aaaand in case steam goes into a hissie fitt as it usually does with 3rd party links here it is with a space before the ". com" and after "www ." so it is still readable in the future
https://www. reddit .com/r/StellarisMods/comments/4rhrjm/mod_files_being_deleted_automatically_upon/

hope it helps someone

Necrophaging: Yep it does, THANK YOU!
Irrelavent whether topic-starter has the game or not.
The description and link is gold. Although the links still works, while on reddit one can only read a few post.
The button to expand the reddit topic has no reaction.
I cannot say it my browser or the hyperlink.
SO, copying the link is necessary. THX for that, too.

Additinally there is another topic with the EXACT same title just "Is" instead "is",
meaning installing mods manually is still really relevant and informations how to do that
are scrace while using google and Co.
