Midgame Terraforming?
How are you supposed to terraform your own planets and colonies midgame? You have to freakin relocate the entire colony temporarily? Is that even possible?

Btw the UI is NOT very friendly when it comes to finding a colony in your empire that is in a sector... -_-

You can terraform planets that you haven't colonized yet. So for example, if you have continental preference, you haven't colonized any tundra/arid planets (0% hab), and probably not many desert/arctic (20% hab), so you have colonizable land in your territory going to waste. Terraforming is one way to get more colonies. Also, terraforming from 60% habitability to 80% isn't really needed, there is not a big difference.

edit: you could probably relocate a colony, but make sure to leave like 1 robot so you don't have to recolonize it.

Don't colonize anything your species isn't 80% happy with. Let the 60% and below planets just sit there until you terraform them. Not just because it makes terrforming easier, but because you can't spread that quickly without killing your science rate anyway.

If you uplift a race early game with a different preference you can use them to grab a few more good planets.

If you absolutely need a 60% planet to push your borders, then later on don't bother terrforming it. Instead, genetically alter the pops living there to prefer that climate.

Joyful is a pretty big bonus, and it's difficult without the expensive trait to push your pops to 90% habitiability on a 60% base.

You can indeed terraform your already colonized planets. Just don't do too many at once.

The pops on those planets won't be happy about it at all, but they'll get over it. You can temporarily relocate troops on the planet just to ensure they don't rebel.

Even if a single planet rebels its not that big of a deal. But I haven't had that happen. Yes, they're very unhappy and not at all productive, but 0 years later they're living on a perfectly suitable planet.

Hehe, in my first game I had now idea that it causd unhappiness to the imdiginous population (which was a bit silly of me, in retrospect), and I tried to terraform 4 planets simultaneously. It wasn't pretty.

When dealing with low habitation planets:

1: Use droids.
2: Have migration rights with other empires, if they prefer a different type of planet than you, they are ideal for your less habitable worlds.
3: Use gene modding to modify the pops on that planet to prefer that climate.
