Why does it work with the Collectivist Ethic but not Xenophobe? Is Alien slavery not considered decadent? :')

Slavery and Alien Slavery are two seperate things. One is everybody, including your own race. The other is everybody but your own race.

It is stupid, I guess the rationale is that since your people don't have any aliens to enslave (yet) they could not develop that trait?

Decadent "works" with xenophobe and alien slavery, it's just not good. Decadent requires a slave on the planet for that planet not to suffer -10% resources. So you need slaves on every single planet to counter it. Xenophobes don't like living with aliens, so moving alien slaves to their planets makes them unhappy.

No, they are not compatible if going by the Ethos requirement alone.

My Enlightened Monarchy required Collectivist Ethic to get along with the Decadent Trait.
Cant save the Race otherwise.

You wouldnt necessarily have to mix the populace though. That would be cool imo; you could do the mining industry on ceded Alien worlds, enslaving whole populations, and leave the Human worlds to do the Science stuff. And wine drinking. Thatdbe really decadent :)
