Confused about Terraforming.
I've been trying to terraform a couple planets of mine that are sub-optimal for my race. And while having the strategic resource (according to the top bar), it appears that I still can't terraform the planets in question.

Do you actually have to have the strategic resouce IN the system that planet that you wish to terraform is located? It would seem that it is the likely case.
As I have 1 terraforming gas strategic resource located in a far off system that is located within my borders, yet one of the planets tells me I lack the gas (It's a Arctic world.)

Anyone have any ideas or advice?
Cheers :)

Its broken I have the same problem I got 2 resources, the valid technology (tropical this case) build the platform but the same red thing says "dont have the necessary resource" clearly bug since ofc your resources "travel" havent tried if you trade for them would the game then realize that you have the resource?

You need to build the terraforming station on the planet. Then it lets you terraform it.
When you hover over the terraform button, what does it tell you?

What he said. Terraforming requires an orbital station as well as the resources.

Thanks, but I was acutely aware of that. That's how I found out i needed the gas to begin with. I have stations over both planets that need terraforming.
I also have the strategic resources in another system, but it isn't adjacent to the one that requires terraforming (or anywhere near it actually.)

Thus I run into the issue of the game thinking I don't have the terraforming gas at all.

I reckon Victius is right and the terraforming is broken.

Maybe you need more than 1 gas? if i recall correctly i needed more than 1 resource.

Terraform worked well for me... only did it once for the achivement.

The requirement the tooltip says is what you need on top of what you have.

Ahh that makes sense now that I think about it. Thanks.

And thanks to everyone else who replied.

I'm having toruble with it also. I have managed to teraform 3 planets. Built the station spent the 2 terraforming resource and 1500 energy. I just don't understand how the little green leaf works. Does it recharge over time? I have mining stations on them. Can't figure out if they are a 1 shot deal or just long mine time.

I don't think it uses them up, I think you just need more for certain biomes than others. Sometimes it uses 2, sometimes 4. As mentioned the cost shown is what you are missing, not the actual cost. In fact if you have the resources it doesn't show you a cost at all, which confused me for a while as I was wondering what the point of the resources was, I had 5 of each and it always appeared like terraforming was free.
