Because if your ships are trying to stay out of enemy weapon range, or can't move faster than the enemy ships, your not going to win against an enemy who has a range advantage.
numbers alone dont secure victory.
i've been fighting a federation last night. they too outnumbered me i had tech on my side, so we massacred them.
Screenshot of the ship design you're using please.
Then the longer range of the fallen makes sure you die in a horrible way :-)
And you assume wrong.
For the second time I witnessed 4 of my fleets, outpowering a single enemy fleet 5 to 1, just ball up at range and plink 1 or 2 ships at a time....for a year straight. Apparently the thing to do then is retreat 1 or 2 of the fleets, then warp them back in from a different angle and they have no problem charging then.
It can be done if he combines his fleets because Fallen Empire AI is stupid. They have multiple fleets which can be picked off 1 by 1.
I've had my huge fleets of 100k+ do stupid things like not engaging the enemy in combat AT ALL
faster ships are smaller ships which will just get shredded at range by enemy fleets especially the Fallen fleets. Any enemy corvette or destoyer just goes pop miles from my battleships. The kind of diversity that benefits is different battleship types with different weapons and modules, such as shield dampener, FTL inhibitor and nanobot cloud
Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what happened to me.
