Can Vassal Integration go faster?
Is there any way to speed up vassal integration? The costs are getting ridiculous for vassals of size 3 systems or larger. My last vassalization cost 990 influence.... and would only go at the rate of 3 influence a month. Yep. 110 months to assimilate the little 4-colony empire. I should specify, the COST is fine - 990's fine with me, but the rate of expenditure is what's really giving me problems. Hell, I get 12 influence a turn, the only way I can run it dry is by mass edicting! *twiddles thumbs, manages minor disasters for an hour while the computer plods each turn along*

I'm in the endgame, I've won, my Federation owns the southern 3/5ths of the galaxy, but yipes this is a painful exercise in patience to hold steady and actually finish up. The only good thing about the AI sentient revolution crisis is that it gives me something to do while I'm waiting for these one at a time integrations, and breaks up the stupid AI countries that don't deal with them well, making it easier to integrate them when I get a chance.

Folks keep coming back to this topic, so I'll follow up on my original post, due to it's age. I think the vassal system does take too long, especially with multisystem vassals, but some of the posters were quite correct - I was at a point in the game when I should have just started making vassals of everyone instead of taking them on one at a time to integrate.

They fight for you, and don't fight you - provided you stay stronger than them.

Except the liege<->vassal relative strength evaluation is broken.
... and even when they hate you, they don't do anything about it.

It's broken systems upon broken systems.

Conquer the galaxy if you want to play fair; vassalize the galaxy if you want to min/max.
Whatever you do though, don't integrate.

In my experience, the only winning move is not to play. (for the moment)

There is no need to integrate a vassal. it´s somehow an advantage to feed the vassal new systems. Vassals have the same "AI bonus" as your oppononents: they can easily go beyond upkeep limit. Even a disloyal vassal with an overwhelming fleet does not dare to rebel against you. So keep that powerhouses to conquer the galaxy/fallen empires and if one of your vassals gets cocky and fight for independece, beat them again.

Integrating another species into your empire will bring up factions who rebel against you.
Actual answer to OP question : edit file 00_defines.lua with notepad ++ ( windows notepad will crash your game on start )

look for lines :
SUBJECT_INTEGRATION_BASE_PROGRESS = 3, -- Cost per month for subject integration
SUBJECT_INTEGRATION_COST_BASE = 20, -- Base cost for integration
SUBJECT_INTEGRATION_COST_PER_POP = 10, -- Integration cost per pop
SUBJECT_INTEGRATION_COST_PER_PLANET = 50, -- Integration cost per planet

Edit them to your liking.

I took on a vassal that was due to take 1550+ months to absorb a 7 colony vassal.

There is such a thing as biting off more than you can chew.

It's also better to have two tiny vassals than one big one, since you can use them for research agreement cheese (every tech they have that you don't gives you a huge 25% bonus)

Think it depends on relative size rather than a base score.
I found out it would take me 766 years to integrate a vassal... I understand the struggle
In my current game i'm integrating a vassal that is going to take me another 46 more years. The only reason I am doing vassalization instead is because I could take 3 planets at a time sure, but then I have to wait 10 years between wars with that country. For larger empires it might actually be easier and shorter to just vassalize the whole thing and integrate.

Why don't you just conquer th rest of the galaxy, while it comes down? You can move freely trough Vassal's territory.

with my 2nd vassal that had around 30 planets i conquered the rest of the game and still have over 1000 years left on him :/ when it started it said it was gonna take over 2000 years. after that i said F it and stopped vassaling everyone and started just taking planets as war victories instead cause thats all i wanted in the first place
I had 2 huge vassals and a total it was going to take near 450 years to integrate them. The biggest was saying 2990 months to integrate (250 years). Ohh and yah... I went on to conquer the rest of the galaxy while waiting and that took less then 15 years....
Vassal integration is more of an early and mid game thing. It is useful early on by letting you expand without creating a huge amount of threat for your neighbors. Then you will want to get a couple of strong vassals that you leave as vassals and an ally or two. This lets you get big enough to take over a quarter of the galaxy and get ready for the big push to take over the rest. Once you go aggressive you will make a lot of enemies so it helps to have some help locked in first, even if they don't contribute that much.

I really wish there was a way without mods or editing the files. We should just revolt and demand they shorten the time.

The best way to integrate a Vassal is free them, war dec them 10 turns later and then purge them. This way you don't have to waste any influence points and if you are lucky one of your enemies will protect the vassal which will allow you to steal even more planets from this stupid enemy in the process!

I'm also wondering why people let other species get so many planets in the first place.

30 planets!? Did you give the AIs a 200 year head start?

This topic is a year old, and I think intergration time has been relaxed a bit since this was actually written.
