Anyway to play as a Fallen Empire?
I've done some single player games. I'd like to play as a fallen empire just for fun. Anyone know how?

Yes, use the console commands.

I admit I haven't tried it but EU4 and CK2 allow you to change your tag and I see the command in Stellaris too.

that's easy, just console command, and Play ID of fallen empire. It's fun but I can't seem to get more than 500 naval capcity when playing a FE. Even with edicts and more planets/starports. Quite frustrating. Other than that I enjoy playing the one I'm plaiying. have to see if I can find out why or if I can get a higher Naval capcity. Adding planets and starports don't seem to help it. Sigh. But playing one, as I said, is easy as choosing one and switching to it through console then go from there.

you dont have FE government type, their ships or their bonuses.

they have a lot of hidden things that make them more than a simple "starts with all techs" race.

not sure what you mean, i am the FE, I do have their ships, it didn't change their stuff once i took them over, including their gov.. and yes, a lot of hidden stuff is there. And I've learned how to use it (Like their planet super survey quirks which is quite interesting when using the science ship.) Like I said, the only thing frustrating is not seeming to be able to get over the 500 naval capcity. perhaps i will locate whatever "hidden thing" is causing that...lol

It is easy.

Play a normal, non-Iron man game as any species. Wait until one of the FE's "wake", then switch to play as that empire (or the one that wakes up right after if you don't like the first awake, to start the war in Heaven).

You could actually start as a race and build them up to be the perfect vassal for the empire you might play as later.

Just thought you might like to try and win the War in Heaven....Epic!

If I want a fallen empire game usually I just give myself a bunch of trait points a ringworld start and don't colonize off the ringworld.
