Blockades

Forgive me the noob question but how do I set up blockades? I've orbited a few enemy planets and the only thing my fleets did was bombard the planet, do I need an specific military tech or something in order to set up a blockade?

You have to create ground troops and deploy them onto a planet

So armies handle blockades then? I thought ships would be able to do that as well... well I'll send my armies then. Thanks for the reply :)

Would take quite a lot of ships to surround a planet efficiently...

Its not some River Delta or Bay operation :O

I was under the impresion that blockades are just have your fleet orbiting the planet.
Im fairly sure you get warscore for that classed as "Planets Blockaided".
