Died or event? They have a chance to die every month starting at like age 70. There are several anomoly events that make them disappear/die also.
I got no notifications that she died, she was only 40 and wasn't researching an anomoly either... Just surverying a system =/ then "POOF!" gone

I had that happen to me 4-5 times in a multiplayer my friends kept laughing at me because id have to build new science ships every half hr or so

It happened to me on my science ship and my miltary fleet. I wish they had some sort of "event/history log", where you could go to see a list of past events

Some forms of government you can have any leader (so any researcher, admiral etc) elected as governor, when this happens they just dissapear from their current post.

I just had it happen my main science officer got elected and I had to hire a new scientist as he/she/it (we're insects) is now our ruler.

Same thing happened to me. No warning and my science officer is no longer in my science ship. I have Venerable as my race bonus so I know he did not die of old age since it was pretty early in the game when this happened.

That must be it then.... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥! -_- Guess I'll start again and choose the sole ruler government option then... Cause having your explorer scientists all of a sudden decide to take up politics for some stupid reason bloody SUCKS! She was my highest rank scientist!

Thanks for the help everyone ^-^

Well its not that much of an issue, it happened once now I know to check the elections screen and just chuck a vote or two the way of the current leader and you can get them re-elected. It only happens with certain forms of government as well, not all. Im a theocratic republic, I believe all the forms of democracy have it in some way but for example the military republic is just admirals and generals (I think)

It usually does a popup warning you of elections, check their mandate promises see their vote share and support the one you want (costs about 40 influence)

Ah ok then, I will reload a save from before the vote and do that then... I am in a military republic lol

I've had this happen to me a lot of different ways, one interesting way to lose my science leader was he got elected to be president. One time he left stealing ships with him and never returned. One died while researching something on the planet. You just have to pay attention to what's going on in the game, I find.

The pitfalls of democracy but rest easy knowing your the good guys of the galaxy :)

TBF I think its a fair price to pay for the pay offs of the democracy gov types, like mine gives me less divergence and +2 core planets.
