What is the preferred galaxy shape for a first time player?

Whatever you want, really. The simplest in terms of "I don't want to think about it" is probably the standard one (elliptical?) which is just a big blob of stars with a hole in the center.

Elliptical, the default in all honesty, the spiral ones can become a nightmare as it is alot easier to get penned in early on

I like Ring myself, but thats due to my love of Hyperdrives over warp or wormholes

Tried them all so far. only for an hour a piece. I like the 4 arm spiral. It gave me a chance to push far and claim territory. Or i just got lukcy with habital worlds on that run.
