Can we eat the other races?
Nothing would say subjugation like a delicious plate of your enemies, BBQ'd.

if not, can this be a DLC? C'mon, think of the PvPers!

kthx

Or use them as a fungal bed yes, i think i saw a picture/avatar that was of a mamal with fungal growths... it was a bit creepy.

well a cannibalistic/fanatic cannibalistic ethos with a modifier negative on dplomatics but adding an adjacent +1 food if next to another pop and +2 next to another races tile would be cool. Also, paird with -2.5 and 5% lowered productivity on those adjacent ils due to, well being eaten xD

No becuse thats why they are another race :P. However some basic addition of types relations as lining other funghi and insects would be nice. Mayeb add a crossgenetic research for creating a genetically modified mix of both as special pop and whatever hostility and ethic issues this my bring to xenopohbes own inhabitants and all that.

So wait we have a post where people are discussing sautee'ing fungoids, making a molluscoid boil, and frying some avians that supposedly taste like chicken? Really this isn't a bad idea for a certain race trait but the penalties would be other races having an absolute aversion to any and all diplomacy with these beings. Not to mention maybe a random trait where one type of race makes you sick to digest, like some predatory space-wolves can't digest the fungoids well.

It is sometimes extremely difficult to tell the edible fungoids from the poisonous ones. The Blorg are toxic, for example, which is sad as they actually want to be eaten so that they may become a part of you.

haha, Imagien this, if fungoids could use infectios spores on palnets making some random outbreaks of a pop and military unit on this planet turn into the race.

that would be a cool way to inteact and mess up ethics and stuff in other empires. Unless they are xenophile and just hug them even more..

parasitic or symbiotic would be acceptable to mating, too. that's actually a pretty cool idea

maybe the insectoids can even infect other races to zombify them while they incubate their host's eggs, like wasps.

ants have the same thing happen to them because of a fungus!!

i like, i like!

what IF they're edible? then that might suggest compatible genetic material, which also suggests mateable!!

"one of these holes might be the correct one, commander"

"if not, i brought my fork"

All I can see now is this guy and a cow..... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Anyway there is MUCH higher chance for eatability, even if it would be filtered based on relation between race type. Like most of races should be able to consume mammals and shrooms. Bugs might be little tricky, but why not. Actually, thinking about it, with right preparation mamals should be able to eat everything Paradox brought on table (see what I did there?)

Also "Decadent" trait would get whole new dimension.

But yeah, I agree, we could definitely use some new interaction between races, parasitic insectoids and fungus are imho too much to pass.

Implying human race wouldn't try to put their diggy-bongo into the every visible xeno-hole.

But OT, there should be a race that needs to devour worlds and eat pops to gain strenght and power.

I think there would be more Captain Kirks and Shepards than you might think. :-)

It would be awesome if we could make a species that devours other species, although unlike some of you I would not call this cannibalism, unless of course they eat members of their own species as well. The Cravers from Endless Space embody this terrifyingly well. http://endlessspace.wikia.com/wiki/Cravers
Spreading across the Galaxy like an ever hungry swarm of locust, devouring entire planetary populations, and depleting said planets of all their resources before moving on.
Here is a picture of a Craver storing human prisoners prior to processing...

Personally though I would love to play a parasitic species that converts members of other species to more of their own numbers, but who also devour members of other species whenever the need for food outweights the need for reproduction, like the Necrophages from Endless Legend. http://endlesslegend.gamepedia.com/Necrophages
Their larvae fuse with the bodies of their hosts, creating different hybrids based on the host species.

Gameplay wise the first option is already present in the form of the Prethoryn Swarm (link[www.stellariswiki.com]). The second parasitic idea has some merit, perhaps a parasite species could have enslave, purge, and infest. Infest would enrage nearby empires and gradually transform the pop into a infested pop or your original species pop.

Nothing would be greater than showering materialist empires with hallucinogenic spores.

But the Prethoryn swarm is a non playable enemy that invades late game from what I have heard, unless someone enables them as playable through mods. But even so what I was suggesting was the ability for players to add such traits to custom species in the main game without mods. Mods are great and all, but I would love to see Paradox play around with this idea with their money and resources if they could be tempted.

A species type that could fit well with an infection mechanic could be one of the fungoid species, a few of their animated portraits already look like infected mammals. http://www.stellariswiki.com/images/5/59/Fungoid_slender_04.png

I didn't realize how much I was missing until I saw the OP. Human supremacy can only be truly expressed through the acquisition of a galactic smorgasbord.

The ambassador sat at his desk, another day far away from Earth. He looked at his pictures, he focused on the one with his family from the Earth Fair, he missed his wife so. His reminiscing ended abruptly as one of the locals came in with more paperwork. ‘Flora’ as he’s come to call… her, was rather pink for her fungal race. A big fluffy looking alien, like cotton candy. She laid his work on his desk, her tentacle grazed his hand. Although he could never tell which side as their faces, for a brief moment they stared at each other…

He was hungry, but he didn’t know which hunger to placate for first.
