Stellaris

If you have ANY problems starting Stellaris - Try this!
If you have problems starting the game in any way, try the following:
  • Disable any user made mods
  • Verify the game cache (right click Stellaris in Steam -> Properties -> Local Files -> “Verify integrity of game cache”)
  • Delete the …\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris -folder on your computer (make sure to backup any save files you may have in there)
If the game still won’t start after doing the above steps, then completely reinstall the game.

Also, it seems some people had problems playing it fullscreen. Try setting it to windowed mode if nothing else helps (if you have a problem solved by this, please post a bug report in our bug report forum here[forum.paradoxplaza.com])

Also: support.paradoxplaza.com may help you as well as our technical support forums![forum.paradoxplaza.com]

Edit// If you have problems getting to the game settings for whatever reason. Then try editing the ...\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\settings.txt file with notepad
EDIT no 2// Also try restarting your Steam client
EDIT no3 You can also try starting the game by going to ...\Steam\steamapps\common\Stellaris\ and starting stellaris.exe by right clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator"

In both EU4 and Stellaris, launching the game in fullscreen mode causes the resolution to change to a lower setting, before then resetting to the default 1080p. This is quite annoying, because nowhere in the settings have I ever told the game to run anything in a different resolution than 1920x1080. This doesn't happen if I set it to windowed mode, so what is it with the fullscreen mode that causes this weird behavior?

For those who use gnu / linux.
If Stellaris is very slow, try deleting (or renaming) /etc/X11/xorg.conf and restarting.
My problem was a black screen with blue circle, if i clicked it stopped responding. But if I waited it would eventually load fully. Took 5-8 mins to load though so very slow. Launched as admin and it takes under 2 mins now. 1:45 to be exact. Hope that helps people with the black screen or slow loading times.
i have the same problem on my notebook with nvidia and intel gpu both...
go to stellaris directory, right click on 'stellaris.exe', and run with integrated gpu.
i hope so, paradox will fix it...
I complitely removed both the game, and the documents part of the game, then uninstalled through steam, then reinstalled with steam, and still crashes. No mods enabled at all.
I have an 1002 application hang error to when I let my application run through default settings and even after I tested all the different graphics options

I disabled full screen optimization and have enabled run as administriation and has managed to get past where I was having trouble with the crashing as soon as I clicked launch game and nothing happened...

Now after following those instructions and even giving the game further permissions in security settings and disabling fullscreen optimization which seams to have helped me get further the screen stops loading at wallpaper off a lava planet after I read the 2.2 update notification you receive after you launch it...

I couldnt find \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris Path and I am still crashing... even after moving the game to my C Drive which is a SSD... I think there could be missing files within the game installation as I bought the Stellar's starter pack instead off trying the free demo... I have installed a

I'm having stuttering issues on a high end PC, can you guys look into that?

Same as grodgen, It's on every speed setting.
updating your drivers couldn't hurt
I didn't have Problems with Stellaris starting since Version 1.
Today Stellaris want start. The Problem was MSI Afterburner. If I stop MSI Afterburner, the game starts. Why this happend now and not the last 3 years? :steamfacepalm:
For some unknown reason my game is constantly crashing at the launcher and also in the game menu.

I have:
Verified game cache
Reinstalled the game (also deleted the folder fully incase of leftover files)
Deleted the documents folder
Reinstalled the graphics driver
Reinstalled DirectX and the other redistributions
Deleted all mods
Ran as Admin
Run in windowed and fullscreen
Disabled all ingame overlays
Disabled Antivirus

I have ran out of ideas.

FIXED:
I had a
"Unhandled Exception C000001D (EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION) at address 0x00007FFED372C8C2" in the crash log. Looking around I found that the latest Windows 10 update (KB4512508) was the problem. I uninstalled it and now my game works.

I have found a solution for my starting problem.
I had to reset the RivaTuner Statistics Server Cache in the properties.
Open RTSS -> Setup -> scroll down -> Reset cache -> OK -> resart RTSS yes

So it was not a Stellaris specific problem. Now RTSS can run again without crashing Stellaris. :steamhappy:

Thank you so much, I tried this and now all Paradox games run without problems like before.

Tried all the method, none of them were usefull in the newest 2.5.1 version currently... Only can deal with windowed mode.... Plz help with that problem.
I had to uninstall the Nahimic app (apparently some kind of audio enhancement software) to be able to start the game again.
