I want game in SWEDISH!
Swedish language for game please. It's hard having to play games like this in English where I don't understand the language as well.

xD

You could instead see it as an opportunity to learn english. Above all else, that is how I learned it.

Paradox might come from Sweden, but it is so far from worth actually making the game localizd in swedish, the market is so tiny.

Especially since almost every single individual that would play games is near or fully fluent in English. We take our English pretty serious here in the Nordic.

Personally I'm upset that no games are ever published in pig latin

Given Paradox is based in Sweden, I don't understand why my own native language (brazillian portuguese) is featured in the game and swedish isn't... and I say that because grand strategy games aren't that popular here in Brazil either, yet we got an interface in portuguese. I will still play in english though, most game translations to my language tend to be downright atrocious. However I don't see why the game couldn't be localized for a certain small market while they seemed to have done so to another, especially when the former is actually their domestic market

Edit: grammar

Here is the thing. There are 9 million people living in Sweden and most know alteast basic english or better.

Brazil has 200 mil people, even if it is not big, it is always going to be alot bigger. And thugh I don't know this, I don't think Brazil has the best english education in the world.

I already explained that - We read and speak English perfectly well up here. It's a mandatory course in primary school.

No. We don't, there are english schools here but I wouldn't say they are very good. Those of us who have learned the language did so by forced expousure to the language (games, living abroad, etc). I get your point about country size and english skill but fact remains that there isn't an expressive enough market for this kind of game. I'd say over half our gaming community hasn't even heard about the genre.. though I could be wrong.

I am aware of that (my girlfriend is swedish). Though I still find it strange that a market so small as my country's attracted the interest to localization while the native market hasn't, even if doesn't seem to have a need. Oh well, I guess modding can be done to translate the game if some people are really interested

Even though im from sweden, i dont want it on swedish... It all looks better with English text. Also hate swedish movies/series. It all feel so dumb to listen too..
Asphyxion May 3, 2016 @ 10:01am
I don't want it in Swedish either. The point didn't really go through but I made the thread as a joke since there were 3 different threads asking for italian translation.

My message? Play the game in English, it's more enjoyable and you learn something in the process. Don't expect the rest of the world to cater to your own group. Especially not smaller or mid size devs. I saw people asking for italian and german on a one man team game...

So as you say, people don't know english that well, and you say not many know about the game, now imagin hom much fewer that would be if the game did not have Portoguese. If a brazilian wanted the game, but it would only be in english, I would imagin he would end up not buying it. And that comes back to the situation with swedish. More or less every swede knows english, so the game does not need to have it as a language for it to sell in Sweden. And as many has allready said aswell, even if it was in swedish, most would still run it in english.
Same thing from me beeing from Norway. If I have the option between english and Norwegian, I will more oftan than not choose english :)
