Betharian stone not showing up

Hi all. So I have this problem that I have never encountered before in Stellaris MP. I have researched Betharian powerplant (lvl 3 actually) but still I cant find betharian stone anywhere. I can't even build (or even find) a betharian powerplant from the planet building selection screen. Usually you are able to build the powerplant without even having secured betharian stone. A bad idea to be sure, but again, I don't even have that option
My friend with which I am playing does not suffer from the same 'bug'. We are about equal in size and he has already found and secured multiple betharian stones.

So I wonder, have anyone encountered this perticular problem before?
Furthermore, I have attempted to enclose 2 screenshots which should give you a better idea of the problem at hand.

Can you see the beltharian in his territory?

Have you researched betharian refining? It is the tech which allows you to discover betharian stone. Techs that let you build more advanced betharian power plants do not allow you to build the first tier, or see it.

I do believe that's the problem! I don't have that tech yet. Usually in my other playthroughs I tend to get it early on, so I might have overlooked it in this current one. Guess I just have to wait 'till I get lucky on my research roll then. Thank you very much for your answer to this now silly question. Derp..
