Is it possible to edit a files or use a mod to change a game from iron man mode to normal?

I got it to work fine,
1) rename save to a zip,
2) extract the file
3) edit the save with a text editor so that ironman = false
4) save the edited file to the zip
5) rename the file to a .sav (don't worry about the file being named ironman it doesn't matter)

Yes, you can find a guide to editing save files on stellariswiki.com

The save files are just ZIP archives with no file extension. If you delete the ironman line from the beginning of the file, it won't be an ironman save when you rearchive it.

I type this from experience.

When you zip it back you need to make sure the compression is deflate and timestamps are turned off ... on windows 10 it worked for me without any additional stuff but on linux/windows 7 need to make sure these are set(the wiki page should have the "guide" for 7-zip).

That's great...but why are you responding to a near half year old thread?

Because I tried this method without knowing that it was patch then eventually figureing out that it was patch. So basically I was just telling anyone that sees this discussion that this method is patch.

And they're only going to see it thanks to your silly necropost. If people need help they create a new thread tailored to their questions...

If someone has the same question they google it like I just did, and it doesn't matter how old the thread is. If Helium had not necro'd I might have not known it was patched, but now I do. In any forum that covers support issues of any kind updating old threads with new relevant information is always useful, and it saves people having to start dozens of new threads asking the same questions and wondering why the answers they found while googling don't work while the people that know the answers get tired of posting the same answers over and over.

I find a way. You have to delete in /Meta/ the ironman and write ironman=no in the other folder of the ZIP.

For what it's worth, while I haven't done this since 2.0, this worked in 1.9.1.

For what it's also worth, you will get complaints about creating a new thread for something that has "Millions" of other threads. You can't win with these "People". Just you be you (as long as it doesn't annoy me)
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
