Has anybody completed this chain? I'm really curious to find out what this "ultimate weapon" is.

It's random. I got Lances in one game, and Kinetic Artillery in another.

thanks, i was afraid it was something along the lines of jump drives that would trigger some event crisis

It is random with 10% chance of getting "big" weapon like particle lances.
