What about Ethos changing events?
I have been playing this game on a friend's steam for several hours and on mine for a few on them and I don't think that I have seen them.

I am not asking for something gamebreaking but I am thinking, what about a pacifist empire that is always at war? And those shy players who have militarist and that are afraid of clicking the war button? Xenophile players who hate guts every other race trying to clean them up and change them to make them more appealing, individualist empires who send their people to live in places where the habitability is horrible for them etc.?

Sadly I cannot program to save my life so I cannot mod or work on paradox but I can try to turn on the spark on someone else if he has the same idea or something related. Maybe some event chains that change your Ethos depending on how are you playing your game? Your game adapting to your choices either rewarding you for playing in a way that your race doesn’t like giving you the bonuses that you need for your new playstyle or penalizing you for doing what your government supposedly hates to do while taking away a bonus that your people has for something that you don’t even do?

It will be very disastrous if you have a big empire, that suddenly change ethics fast enough to make tons of pops very angry and increasing divergence dramatically.

But what about 'uplift-able ethics'? The idea is improving the current ethics, fanatic or not, into more advance and galatically useful of degree, like reducing penalty and divergence, or adding extra buff/bonuses when your pops are happy with it.

There has only been one event that ive seen I think its called Shrine to the Old Gods though I might be wrong, and at the end it give you the option of having your ethos changed to Fanatical Collectivist and Spiritualist, but thats the only one ive seen

Might be more in Asimov. Dev mentioned that an anomaly event would 'make a bunch of pops Xenophiles'.
Or its already in. Eddic, Monolithic event. F. Materialist + Individualist empire

Ah I got the event, it does changes an X number of pop into Xenophiles, the flavor text of the event is fun and is quite neat to add variety to the game (and break your country from inside with the wrong policies). I was thinking more on the goverment level, that changes your playbonnus

There are a couple of events that change or even add ethos, There is one about discovering alien art, you can either take the science or give it to the people, which can cause pops to gain Xenophile. If you colonise a caveman planet and put them on reservations you can have events were the natives attack and some pops will get Xenophobia

Hmm, the devs have repeatedly said that midgame and colony events didn't make it into release because they got so focussed on early game and endgame stuff.
So maybe they're in that lot, which will be gradually added to over time, with a bunch slated to be injected with Heinlein (which should be around end of July if they're keeping with monthly patches).
