How to stop map pings?

I pinged a system to show a friend something..
But the ping won't stop...

It's getting annoying to watch the red circles non-stop comming..

Had the same problem had to reload the save to make it dissapear.

Try looking as your Missions window (next to the Tech window) maybe it is still set there.

It is not a quest or mission..
It's just a ping to show a friend something.
Red circles pop up at the pinged location. But never dissapear.

yeah this happened to me once, I think it's from either the alt or ctrl keys being stuck.

Really annoying. Hold alt and double clicking on map will make more, but I can't figure out how to remove them.

its now the end of feb 2017 i just got the game and accidently pinged the map... Searched for a way to stop it and ended up here. still no luck yet. I am dissapoint.

To the best i can remember, if you form a Federation before pinging something, the pings don't persist permanently. This makes me believe they're intended for Federations, but a kind of oversight occurred that created a glitch causing them to never go away when you're not in a Federation.

It's a bug.

It's existed ever since launch. Just save and reload quick and it will go away.

Save & load doesn't work at all...
The pings always remain there.
They get saved aswell!

Did you exit the game between save and (re)load ? That just worked for me:

1) Save game
2) Exit to desktop
3) Re-run game
4) Load game

Pings gone.
