Ophidians event
Is there any payoff to this? I get it every damn game and your choices don't matter at all.

Not really, it is one of the few events in the game that are all negatives with no real positive.

If you go the peaceful route and don't use generator districts the event really doesn't have any drawbacks until you hit the mining portion, but that modifier doesn't last too long compared to the rest of it.

If you go the military route however you'll have constant happiness and population negative modifiers.

Yeah, just do all of the ignore options and it should be fine.
Will even give you some minerals.

The event happens pretty quickly as well, so no real harm done

I kind of expected the serpents to turn up again, maybe as a random AI empire elsewhere in the galaxy. It's a bit annoying that it happens so much.

As I see it, this event is like a mocking of all the other "mysterious primitives discovered planetside, give great benefits" event.
Just read the text, where "researchers try to translate their language and they just say "hiss".

And when you give them the ship they fly to space and never return because well ship has controls optimized for your species, no way snakes can fly it!

And eventually they all die of hunger in space anyway

I love snakes in space! Once, they even showed up as pops in my empire.

How it actually looked for your planetside peoples: https://cs14.pikabu.ru/video/2022/06/15/1655297754276820006_1080x1920.webm

Actually, if you deal with them nicely on a colony that's not developed yet (Every time they happen i deal with them entirely by the time my forth or fifth district are up and the huge amount of minerals for nothing isn't bad.
