Are you sure? I could have sworn that when I turned off cloud saving it said that I was unable to turn on ironman...
I only use one device, and sometimes it does work. I'm not sure where the issue is coming from :(
For starting a new ironman game cloud save has to be on. But after starting it you can turn it off and never turn it back again (until you start a new ironman).
You can even switch between them mid-game to get a second Ironman Save Slot, but don't tell the devs. ;)
Make conspiracy that its your software corrupted reinstalling, wiping, reformatting hard drive
Make conspiracy that its your hardware software driver issue. try different drivers not for rig
also trivial note, why is 'hardware' a compound word but 'hard drive' isn't lol
plus hardware is several hundred years old
So I figured out how to start an ironman without saving to the cloud and played for several hours today. I backed out to menu and saw that it supposedly saved. Then I tried to load back in and guess what happened? I ended up losing over 45 or so in game years and essentially went back to year one lol. Such a shame, makes me not want to play this game anymore if I'll just end up with wasted time.
Yeah I figured it out, you need to have cloud saving enabled on steam for stellaris, and then you go into the menu when you open the game and tell it to save off the cloud. However, when I tested this out today, I still lost several decades of game progress.
Apparently this is a known issue. I opened up a ticket with paradox and the person mentioned that other's seem to be dealing with this in the current patch.
Nah, sometimes I exit to menu and it automatically loads an earlier version of the game unprompted. Other times I try to resume and it's an older save, I don't know what's going on lol. I've usually tried to just open the game back up when dealing with this issue, rather than hitting resume
