After six hours of gameplay it plays like CIVI. You meet others, they go to war with you, you try to win the race. With almost the same handicaps for being a pacifist.
Naming a bunch of stanadard 4x mechanics doesn't make them the same game..
No I'm not trolling, and I do mean that, so far that's all I'm seeing, what is the actual difference? I presume you have played Sid Meyer's civilizations games. You gather resources from nearby blocks, you send out your scout (survey ships) to find other civilizations (races) and resources, your build and upgrade the army (fleet), and around round XXX you are swamped in by the AI who attacks. You can open diplomacy with the other rulers (races), etc etc. So far the only difference is this is in space, and the graphics are far better and you can swivel the maps. And no, I'm not trying to be hostile or toxic, I'm just disappointed because I spent upside of 35 euro for a game I thought would be much more about space exploration and discovery.
If you feel like that early phase ends too soon, turn off clustered starts and reduce the amount of AI empires in the galaxy. That will give you a lot more breathing room (on average) to go out and explore.
I didn't say there's something wrong with Stelaris. I don't know about the complaints made by the people who have replied to me, either. And I wish I were drunk. You seem to assume too much.
It's what I'm doing in Civi too, so might as well. Good idea. Too bad I have to lose the current save, but I'll backup the folder somewhere.
subnautica is pretty cool too if you want exploration and under water is kinda like space?
or try something like SOMA that's pretty cool if entirely from another direction.
maybe frostpunk if you want to keep the building aspect of the game?
It is. And with free DLCs too. But I've got it on console and my son has hogged that. So, thought I might give a go to the new space exploration game on PC.
