Sapient Combat AI
OK so I didn't want to research this because it's "dangerous", and having AI running my ships just seems daft...for obvious reasons.

But I got the tech from debris (obviously at least one other empire has it) and now I can't seem to take it off my ships.

I try changing the AI chip back to a the yellow one I had on before, I turn off auto-update, I hit save, and click back on the ship, and it's got the sapient AI chip back in it!

Any way around this?

Did you retrofit your military ships(making them upgrade out of sapient AI), or is this science and construction ships we're typing about?

Still if your ships now have Sapient Combat AI, the game's flag for the dangerous part of it has already fired off.

Well I haven't upgraded my ships since the research. But the designer autoupgraded my designs so if I build more they'll be sapient, and it won't let me change the designs to be non sapient which is what I'd like

also as a side note if I never got the tech would another civ having it fire the flag?

If it comes to endgame crysis, yes. No matter who (you or an AI empire) got the tech, it will trigger the events.

Well I guess at least that's "fair" then. Still not wanting to upgrade most of my ships and give them sapient AI, problem is wars are reducing the number of "legacy" ships

is it really ?

Do u look at sheep designer or at actual ships ? Designer will update to latest stuff, but without saving, overwriting, it isnt set. Ship designer is misleading, all you need to look at is, if you can save designs without actually doing anything. If you changed nothing, only the AI tries to, it is not saved, take it as suggested. Normally, with this bug you change nothing and save isnt grayed out. Because it overwrites your save with latest tier, but it doesnt save. Giving you more work.

Technologies marked as "dangerous" just add to the chance of triggering a certain end-game crisis. If no one researches any dangerous technology, then Prethoryin Scourge will trigger.

Dangerous tech won't harm you fleet or anything. There is no reason not to use them if you've already research the tech.

The only time you won't be able to use it is if the contingency triggers. Then the best computer is the psychic computer.

Ok, I've never had this endgame crisis so I kinda assumed the logical thing for "naughty AI" to do would be to turn some of your own ships against you...
Sapient AI only causes issues if fitted during the Contingency Crisis. Where it gives your ships a debuff.

So anyway, if it's just "a bug" kinda where it shows whats not fitted, I just go through all my ships, swap down then save, upgrade all ships and it'll remove it from any its on?

yes, you can look at what your ships currently have equipped by looking at the ones you have built. there's no real reason not to use those ai unless you get the contingency. if you get a "ghost signal" popup get out of any wars your in and immediately downgrade to the 2nd best computers or your ships will be weaker until the signal is gone
raymazoida Oct 17, 2018 @ 1:09pm
Right, ghost signal warning recieved, steps taken as above, ships all "upgraded" and random sampling shows no sapient AI, here we go....
