Can't occupy planets
I joined a friends game, Mid-Game. when I tried to take planets my army would land on the planet defeat the defensive army and then leave the planet without the planet being occupied.

I was on a concor war goal but unable to occupy any systems with planets even if my target only had the one system.

I looked through all my policies and could see nothing that would explain this, can anyone shed light?

Take a look and see who has a CLAIM on the system.....that may have something to do with it.

shouldnt have to anything with claims, those come into play when you peace and they determine who in your alliance gets what, but not during the war itself.

Sounds buggy, do you have the same issue in solo-games?

do you control the station? if you invade a planet that is in a system controlled by someone besides the owner then control of the planet will go to the person who controls the station

I don't have the issue in anything other than this game. I control the station, its a 1v1 war there are no other empires involved. and I do have claims on the system.

I can land my army they kill the defenders then get back in the ships as normal but leave the planet in the control of the natives rather than under ocupation.

Oh, that's normal, it's a system put in place to prevent you from forgetting which planet you left your armies on. You already 'took over' the planet but it's not yours until the war ends. Right now it is just 'occupied'. You'll see the system with your symbol and spikes around the symbol.

I know thats how it normally works but the planet was showing as not occupied, and the system had my logo but not the spikes, when my armies left the planet the logo on the planet changed back to theirs.

I'm installing Mega Corp now so won't be going back to that save anyway now.

I suspect it was an issue with the empire I was playing but as I joined a friends game in progress and took over an AI I didn't get to drill into the specifics of policies.

Yeah who knows, I have sometimes lost an occupied planet for some reason (quickly reconquered? idk) so I had to send troops back to take it again.

Sounds like the system has more than one planet.
