Federations, slight confusion
Slightly confused about formation rules. I'm aware diplomacy unlocks Federations, what confuses me is the Unity trees that unlock specialized federations.

If I unlock Unyielding fully, shouldn't I have access to Martial federations specifically? Are we forced to unlock diplomacy to make use of it?

Yes and no. You can join an existing federation without Diplomacy traditions and use your Unyielding traditions to change the federation type to Martial Alliance if you have the power and support to do so.

It might not be easy to get the AI empires to agree to change the Federation type. Also, doing so resets the Fed XP accumulation, so if you want to do it then you need to do it early in the life of the Federation, otherwise it'll take forever to level it up.
