why no immortal ruler trait yet?
i mean, given its prominence in science fiction i think its weird that we dont have that yet.

ahhh got it, ill have to take a closer look then

Nanites leader you can also somtimes get and is also immortal.
Though to be honest non immortal leaders + life extension tech can reach into the couple hundred years. Which stellaris games are normally only 300-500 years long so leader length once you get to the 120's range starts to matter less and rather what traits they have.

Note that machine leaders, while technically immortal, can still malfunction and break down, and the chosen ones, while also technically immortal, can still get devoured by the Shroud should RNGeesus seek to smite you.

There are 3 different ascensions. One is Transcendence, which leads to psionic ascension (immortality), the flesh is weak, which leads to cyborg ascension (immortality) and engineered evolution, which leads to gene tailoring (no immortality, but longer lifespan).

In normal game you need to choose between these 3 ascensions, but there are mods where you have no restriction.

Last time I checked the hive mind isn't and that is a Gestalt, the machines are though.

And machines is the easiest to get immortal trait on your leaders. Though I found that they still manage to break down pretty easy up to the point that I feel they are even shorter lived then then the organic races.

i mean what about simple humans or other normal species just living forever ie Man Emperor of Mankind, right from the start of the game.

He didn't get his text-to-speech device until later.

Stack enough +5 leader span repeatables and ALL your leaders are effectively immortal ^^

radene he was always immortal though XD hes actually a perpetual

danny XD no man your missing the point.

lemme go in further detail.

i wanna start the game with one leader, he will never die, constantly lvling up as well (maybe give him or her a max cap of 20?)

maybe even add some flavor in there as well, such as a higher chance of other leaders rebelling just to balance somethings out?

With a bit of luck, you can manage to ascend psionicaly, visit the shroud and make your first ruler immortal before they pass out.
