Gaia worlds count as Ocean?
So, I have something I was wondering.

Do Gaia worlds count as an ocean world for the purposes of Hydrocentric and Aquatics trait?

If not, then wouldn't a Gaia world technically be worse than an Ocean world for that species?

−10% Housing Usage
+10% Worker Output
huh,i don't remember the trait being this not-overpowered

if you want use ice to get more district you need ocean world

gaia worlds are (obviously) not ocean worlds, they do not count as wet worlds either, but give no bonuses OR penalties for the hydrocentric/aquatic trait, but still give you the 10% resource output a gaia world would normally give to all biological pops.

Ok, so really the only advantage a Gaia world would have over an Ocean for hydrocentric/aquatic is 10% output bonus on Alloys, Goods and Research?

Considering the negative of not being able to add 3 districts and not having the housing reduction bonus, im not sure a Gaia world would be better for an Aquatic/Hydrocentric species.

Kind of annoying, because I found the Baol in this game which let me terraform to a Gaia world instantly whenever I can activate the relic, but then I can't terraform a Gaia into an Ocean.

you can with aquatic colossus

You can absorb another Empire of Airbreathers and settle those on your Gaia Worlds, or Make Robot Colony Ships and settle with those and the Tree People you get with using that Relic.
Btw while Gaia is a no pro and no negative sides, Relic worlds hit you hard with the "not wet" Stuff if you are aquatic/hydrocentric so you should get some Airbreathers or mechanized pops just for those anyway to make use of their Research boost.

Space Habitats can be flooded for aquatics if you have hydrocentric but i think Ring Worlds are out of the question too...

The Aquatic trait specifically gives penalties on "non-wet worlds", which means dry or frozen. The bonus is only for ocean worlds.

So for Aquatics, it doesn't matter wether Gaia counts as "wet world" - same like Relic, Ring World, Ecu etc. you do not get the dry/frozen penalty. And they are obviously no ocean worlds.

The actual question probably hasn't been asked:

Does the Anglers civic work on Gaia worlds. Because this one specifically requires a "wet world" for the uncapped agri districts with angler / pearl diver jobs.

IIRC this is the case, so the Gaia worlds are wet worlds. Post screenshot if it doesn't in the current patch.

And FYI, the aquatic bonus on ocean worlds only affects worker jobs. So obviously you'd put something like researchers on a gaia world, with the 10% all jobs and happiness bonus these are better for that anyways.

Nope, doesn't work like that and never did. Gaia Planets don't have any of the climate classifications.

Good to know. Anyways, for Aquatic the Gaia worlds are an upgrade for their specialist jobs.
You shouldn't use them for rural production.

No. It counts as wet for the housing penalty and the fishing district. It's why hydrocentric empires don't like an overlord gaia-forming their planets.

Gaia is highy values for balanced world, mix ocean and land in same match similar to earth but higher class, I guess, but Ocean is just water world where no land or rare land, I think. If you watch Waterworld film in 1995, that is kind of almost ocean world, but it's not ocean world because basic world got flooded but not last long as water get dry again and land come up again.

It's not classified as wet. What it is, is an ideal planet, on which neither penalties nor benefits of (not) being a wet world apply.

No. I played anglers before and I got the Gruner. Aquatic has bonuses on Ocean worlds, no bonus or penalties on Wet worlds(Tropical and Continental). Everything else is non-wet. This includes relic worlds but not ecumonopolis. Normal habitats are also non-wet till you fill it with water.

Gaia and ringworlds are considered wet worlds which gains no bonuses nor penalties.
