And, why can't you edit the clones, anyways?
And yes you can use the bio ascension on other pops but why would you? Your power is your god-like clone admirals. Psionics gives the best leader traits.
So you can have psionic administration and clone military.
Now move all your clones to Selusa Secundus :)
It can still give you a very good early game since you can grow your clone troops fast but they will end up more like a regular empire late game when they grow normally (The clone soldier descendant admiral trait isn't that bad either even if its worse then the ascendant one).
The single best combination seems to be
Venerable
Sedentary, Solitary, Unadaptive
2 free traits of choice
For the other 95% of your population genetic engineering works just fine.
Just fired up the Clone Army origin for the first time today, ironically lost my militarist "very strong" ascended clone scientist to hostile fauna while on the home world dig site. Had a good laugh at the idea , but the unity deficit and the cost to replace that leader has caused me to consider a restart, thanks for the suggested traits!
Later on you isolate the clones. so you can build a planet full of death temples and 5 vats to restock supplies .
