100% cpu usage?
granted I was messing around with a modded game, with 5k star systems, but I am still blown away that my computer was burning through ALL its CPU in the process.

Anyone have thoughts on reducing that cpu? Less Empires, lower settings, etc?

well, 5k stars might have... everything to do with it.
most people get late game lag with 1k (and less) stars.

now if you could get to end game and have it at or near 100% cpu, (and it not overheating or anything) that would probably be ok / playable.. but if you are seeing that at the beginning of the game, you are doomed to a late game, very slow slide show.

Reduce some of the settings and see if you can find a compromise that don't verge at 100% cpu and you can be happy enough with. ideally leave some room on your RAM and CPU usage so it can be held in reserve until later.

Yeah.....upgrade a 2k gaming Laptop. No I think i'm good thanks.

Yeah I did mess with the settings a bit, but I think just 5k stars, with 60 empires might have been too much for my laptop to handle. To be fair, even at 1.5k stars i've never had a slowdown in Any stellaris game before, this laptop is pretty beastly, so I was legit surprised when it was blasting my CPU into the roof.

try something like 3k star systems and a few less empires, that might help reduce the overall load. it's still plenty of systems and still a lot of empires, but you'll have a chance with your laptop.

Yeah, I was running 2.5k, with around 30 ish empires, and that runs "pretty" ok, with just some flare ups of slow downs here and there.

I was hoping there was some sort of setting I could do that would help the CPU usage drop to run that larger game, but I don't think there will be without overclocking, and I REALLY don't want to risk the laptop for that.
