Must-Have DLCs?
Just returning to this game and as usual with Paradox strategy titles, there's a busload of DLC out there. Which ones are the most worthwhile/enjoyable—and not just in a "get it when on sale" sense? Thanks for any helpful tips!

P.S.: I should add that I do already own Apocalypse and the Humanoid stuff.

There are dozens of threads on this forum asking the same question. You may want to look through them (and the DLC descriptions on their store pages), and then decide for yourself which DLCs you think you need.
I would suggest to at least add Utopia, Synthetic Dawn, and Ancient Relics. Those three and Apocalypse would be my vote for "must haves". Overlord also seems worthwhile, but as its not out yet I can't say for sure...

For me personally they are almost all enjoyable, with the exception of Distant Stars and Nemesis. But many people enjoy Distant Stars as well, as did I at first, but I got tired of it quickly, and usually play without it.
Nemesis needs some work done before I would recommend it. The "Become the Crisis" Perk is in my opinion lazy, and boring, I don't usually take part in the galactic community so I don't care much if I can become the Custodian and then Emperor Palpatine style, I prefer to do it the old fashioned way, and the espionage operations are mostly completely useless, and are going to become even more useless (more expensive for the same negligible result) with the next patch.

Nemesis is less than worth the 20 dollars they are asking. I have all the other dlc but I'm not paying 20 dollars for a dlc that imo is worth 10 dollars at most.

Utopia is the only dlc where you'll find consensus about being a must-have.

You might be more incentivised if the dlc was discounted more from another source. As it stands it very much is like buying a wall of dlc. If you want a game to compare as a dlc wall the 'sims' series are prime example.

Thanks, guys!

@ScreamCon: There's certainly deals to be found, sometimes with substantial discounts (all from legit resellers, btw). Even so, the dollars add up quickly with the number of DLCs! So it's good to be able to prioritize a bit! Utopia sounds interesting!

if you're buying on steam wait until the 12th when the next dlc comes out, all the others should be on sale then

@Teyloune: Thanks, excellent!

@mango deluxe: I appreciate the sentiment, but somehow I have a feeling your post might attract unwanted attention, maybe?
