I was so closeeeeeeeeeeeee.
The Final Upgrade mega structure was charging and then the Contingency spawned realllllllllllly close to it's location and rekt it when my armies were away even though I had 0 robots or Synths in my empire aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

All that time and effort wasted Q_Q

Not wasted. You learned that you should probably stack your fleets in your home system when the end times are near.

So you didn't have fortress habitats in your core sector as a last line of defence?

contingency doesn't have anything to do with you having robots or not, just that having robots can increase the odds of contingency being the end game crisis

That used to be the case. Now days its not.

Outside of the unbidden that can be triggered early by dangerous tech its now a random roll what crisis will spawn (unless you set it otherwise in the game setup). Note however that the unbidden has a slightly lower roll chance in said random roll then the other two (perhaps to balance out the fact that it can be triggered early).

Unless I specifically set it otherwise, I always seem to get unbidden. Probably because everyone and their uncle using jump drives the moment they get them.

That's bad luck. I sympathize with you.

From a lore perspective you might be what the contingency was originally created to prevent, in which case it's just doing its job bruh.

The problem with Unbidden, is that they get 50 extra years of rolling to spawn. That's why they're more comon.

Contingency and Zerg also can spawn within a decade of endgame.

One of my 3.3 games went fine until 2400, then BOOM robot uprisings, war in heavens, Contingency, corrupted guardians Fallen Empire. 20 years later the galaxy was a smoldering ruin :D
