Need some crystal fleet help.

Stupid me, I picked the crystal weaponry study instead of the pacification when I found an outpost with bout 2k military power. Long and bloody battle later, I got that system.

Encountered 4 crystal fleets near the one area that I can explore, as well as a crystal military base in the area, with all of them in the same system of having a military power of somewhere around 10K. Can anyone give me some help on that? I just got destroyers and have UV lasers on my corvette, and also have crystalline armor on all of them, as well as lvl 3 shields.

They sit on an area with unstable powder/whatever it is called, as well as exotic gases, so I want that area

Other than that, there is approx. 1 way to bypass it, and it takes about 6 months for me to get a construction ship through it, and it runs through 2 different alien empires, both of which only like me because of mineral donations.

Wait untill later, they will be nothing. In the mean time focus on taking out chunks of your neighbours.

Stick with using corvettes and increase their evasion as much as possible using afterburners. Destroyers don't last long. I believe using shields is more effective then armour, so fill up the slots with shields.
Ideally you want your fleet power more or less the same as theirs, otherwise you'll just have to chip away at them with smaller fleets. I tend to do this and it works.
Don't forget to use a fleet admiral for added bonus.
