How do I properly manage planets and pops?
So, I am year 2480 in my first game on default settings (yes i know i am about to lose the game but whats the fun in winning them all?) and my biggest struggle is managing planets. i had another post about automated planets and sectors but most of the feedback i got was negative towards using that mechanic so now the question is, how exactly do i manage all these dang planets and pops?

I am playing as the United Nations of Earth, have about 10-13(?) planets and over 700 pops. This seems like a lot to me as a new player and i cant really find a reliable guide for planet management (at leas ones that are not boring or just awful at explaining) so i am turning to ya'll, the more experienced players to maybe give me some pointers or maybe explain why i have maxed out districts and people continue to be born eventually overpopulating the planets lol. Is there a way to make pops who spawn on an overcrowded planet, move to another planet that's underpopulated? Why am i always short on amenities? Why do i keep having crime issues?

I am new to the 4X genre of games, I am pretty sure this is the first and only 4X game I own and have played. Any input would help and i apologize if this topic has been covered recently.

Unemployed pops will automatically resettle to planets with vacant jobs, and pops will grow to a certain amount of homelessness.
If you have lack of amenities build a theatre, and an enforcer hall for the crime.

oof, My way may not be the best, this is how I manage, I set a certain parameter in my head for each world, i.e. is this an energy world, a research world, and I set that up in the colony designation. That way when I zoom into planet I will know what this planet is doing and what goal I want to reach. There are a few things I put on every planet one is the fortress, that gives extra soldiers and naval capacity, and the other is probably the most controversial of all and that is the gene Clinics, every one hates them, but they give a few bonuses that I like, first is they boost growth, and yes it is only .2-.5 a month but if I'm building a theater(amenities booster) I may as well get something out of it, 2nd they give Amenities, and 3rd they boost Habitability, The first level give you a 5% boost. Why is that important, every level below 100% habitability your planet is is more resources your pops need to survive and less resources they produce and habitat effects happiness, and happiness effects stability which also affects production, I produce more with a gene clinic.
There will be many people that will say it is a waste to your people but it has worked for me and when you're on a planet that is at 60% habitability that 5 % really helps.

Well good luck, and have a great day!

Bit by bit, don't worry. It took me 5 tries to have my empire last 200 years. Still it didn't end well.

13 planets and 700 pops is fine for endgame.
Later on you can make artificial planets like ring worlds and habitats.

For better undestanding: Are these free people or slaves? How many species does your empire have?

Among other reasons, the most basic reason for why your amenities are dropping and crime is growing is because each pop eats up a little bit of amenities and thanks you for it by creating a little bit of crime.
There are other bigger reasons too though, such as planet habitability, individual pop happiness or unemployment. Pops creating a tiny amount of crime simply for existing rarely manages to become a problem by itself.

Unfortunately, one of the op empires completely wiped me out lol. I had no resources and couldn't build ships fast enough (or strong enough) to prevent the attack. I said I was in year 2480 but that was incorrect. I was in year 2448 lol. I lost by 2498. 50 years and my entire empire collapsed on itself and I was completely dominated by the ai lol. I had fun tho.

I'll take everyone's feedback into my next run and hopefully I can manage colonies better and be able to right back.
