There is an 'End Year', which you can set when you set up a new game. But in practice, most games never make it that far. You basically call it an ending when you decide to stop playing a map.

You can set the "End year" in galaxy creation when starting the game. By default it is 2500.
This is enough time to deal with mid and endgame crisis, if u have not beaten them by then they most likely have beaten you.

When reaching the "end year" the empire with the highest score (shows you in situation log) "wins" the game. If you #1 on ironman mode you also get the steam achievement, which only 4% of all players got.
Then u can choose to continue or start a new game.

If you however choose to "become the crisis" there are different win conditions, i never did it but i heard you can erase every single star in ur galaxy and somehow create a new one, crazy evil stuff, someone else has to elaborate on that tho.

ah ok.

2500 is considered endgame, but its not technically over until the endgame crisis around that time point is defeated.

You will deal with other people, a mid life crisis around 2300 - 2400, and late life crisis 2500 -2550

I already had a midlife crisis in my game. I bought an MR2 Spyder.

End game crisis can start as soon as 2400 by default.

Totally conquering the galaxy and by eliminating all other empires ends the game for me. Devouring Swarm goes nom nom nom...

what was shall be!

Just like 1821 is the end of EU4, 2500 is the end of Stellaris.

No I set to no year victory. I’m able to judge how well I’ve done ✅

That is the best way to play the game unless you want the victory-achievement.
Since the end screen is merely a scoreboard you can just aswell decide when the universe has no challenges left for your empire.

Just 'won' the game via Horizon Needle. I cant get over how 'meh' that was in comparison to the build up. Super disappointing.

The game has no ending.
The game must go on.
The game is life.
The game is eternal.

Now with comogenesys perk added in Machine age DLC, you have another win condition.
you must reach lvl5 crisis and evacuate your population in an other dimension.
Then you have an Victory window that appear !!

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
