Overlord DLC is pathetic.
Seriously? It took them 6 years and roughly 16 dlc/updates to finally make a dlc/update that features an orbital shipyard (only for 19,99€)? How low can you go? Shameless and greedy. Modders have added in an orbital shipyard since 2016.

Where does it say it's an orbital shipyard?

Aside from it not being a shipyard, before 2.0, all shipyards were orbital, and only then was ship production moved to the starbase.

Whatever it is (probably a planetary Ring World), it's also not the main feature of the DLC, nothing in this thread makes any sense.

I'm more baffled by the new Vassal types when the Vassals in the game currently are useless, they've never won me a war or contributed anything significant. They were a fun tool to subjugate other empires but I wouldn't pay 1$ for the vassals in the game currently with how lobotomized they are. Any Vassal strong enough to help you would just revolt anyways.

Has the complaining about the content of a DLC that we don't know the content yet already started? And the whole basis of the OP is on this one item, which may or may not be true, and not even the vassal content which is the real content

Sadly, been here forever, it still amazes me.

How is it greedy? They have a right to make money for their effort. I'd rather have them continue to add content to a game rather than abandon it.

>Vassals are terrible, why are they changing them?
It's a mystery.

All I can say is that if you don't like it, don't buy it.

It's that simple.

I personally like the fact that games like Stellaris are still being worked on almost half a decade after its initial release.

It used to be that a game company would release a game and then put out only one or two expansions - which were always (at least) $29.99 and those expansions contained about the same amount of content as a DLC. After the company released it's one or two expansions, the game would be abandoned and nothing further would be done with it. Remember, back then, there were no mods, either. None. At all. Anywhere.

I enjoy the fact that developers will continue to expand and develop a game many years after its initial release. It used to be that a gaming company would only carry a game through one or two expansions before abandoning it - often to simply remake the same game with a few extra bells and whistles and slightly better graphics.

I've seen so many awesome games with limitless potential simply ditched because a new graphics engine was invented or a new Direct X version came out.

I don't mean to sound harsh about it ... but no one is forcing you to buy any DLC. The fact that we can now pick and choose among numerous expansions and additions to a game I think is fantastic. And it's cheaper - especially over the long run - than the old store-bought expansions we used to have to contend with.

It's cool that they're still working on it, however of all the features you could add to the game; This would be low on the list, sounds rather dry.
I'd like to see more playstyles like virus based aliens, xenophage expanded, unique features for fungoids, and avians etc.

well i am personally curious what they do to improve upon it, because yea the vassals system is pretty mediocre, which i want to be good. I am more of a Crusader kings fan, and i would like more of the political intrigue and interactions CK has. And that if vassals can revolt, yea that sounds fun if done properly, stop the revolt via politics or strength, and have a system that you get part of the vassals fleets, and maybe you get their technology.

1.
The game used to have a orbital shipyards in the -really- old version, fairly sure.. before the time of starbases being relevant.

2. Pretty sure it's not that, or even relevant.. it's just bonus mechanics for vassals, coming alongside other stuff that will be given, as usual, for free to everyone else.

So really the DLC is more than what the DLC is, always.
