1800+ empire sprawl and edict are extreme?
with a empire sprawl of 1800+ all my edict are to way to high to afford the upkeep cost. i have read that for the research aspect i can just spam research labs but im not sure that will help the inflated cost. As for the unity how can i get it to where im able to have enough unity to afford the extreme cost or how do i reduce the sprawl? Any help would be great.

You can check out "Montu Plays" youtube video on Stellaris Reduce Empire Sprawl/Size In 3.3. Here is a link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7zvpZ_1wzU
Centralize to a couple of Ecumenopolis and ascend them. Specifically, a unity Ecu. Most of your sprawl will come from pops and districts. Ascended planets increases output while reducing sprawl. So a unity Ecu has the benefit of increasing unity output and decreasing sprawl at the same time. Also don't build a bunch of empty districts. These core worlds will be the backbone of your empire.

I'll see a Ecumenopolis nerf in the far distant future :(
If you want to use the edicts don't expand so much that the cost becomes prohibitive. Think of it as a benefit of playing tall.
3.3 moved from satiable sprawl to constant representation of empire size.
Basically its to represent your empire getting more messy and harder for the ruler class to coordinate.

Specialising into science or unity can help offset the increasing empire size. Either that you can roll back to 3.2 or 3.1 alternatively.
The increase is linear and thus you can always outpace it so long as you don't overbuild.

That's not true for edicts, since they scale up faster than your production. Going from 100 to 200 Empire size for example doubles your Edict cost, but you won't be able to double your production within that threshold in most empires.

The only easy way to do it to focus heavily on Empire Size Reduction effects, which usually means a very small empire with lots of planet ascensions. Stacking all the empire size reduction effects may work, too, but that's also a very specific type of empire that essentially requires you to be(come) a Fanatic Pacifist.

Just build a ton of Unity producing buildings and you are fine, just get used to Unity being a resource that is intended to be spend.

It's intended that you go over the cap, the cap just exists to smooth out the cost of edicts during the early game
At this point for me to add the Ambition Edicts it cost me over 1400 unity per Edict. Seems a bit impossible as of now to manage.
