Build stations with hangar bays along the way.

right ok. thank you.

Alternatively, you can set a fleet to patrol the route, preferably of corvettes since they give the most piracy suppression and are the fastest moving so they complete a patrol route faster.

You can also set corvettes to patrol your trade lanes to suppress piracy. You can see the piracy values of individual systems by hovering your cursor the skull icon in the trade lanes map mode.

To clarify the station thing, it doesn't need to be hanger bays. Hanger bays just provide better protection. Each weapon module (missile, gun, or hanger) on a station increases that stations protection radius by 1 hyperlane. So a station with 3 trade hubs will collect trade from up to 3 hyperlanes away. If you build 3 weapon modules on it as well, it will also protect that trade route up to 3 hyperlanes away.

right got ya. thank you. thats no use though as the base i need to connect is far across the other side of the map from my other bases. will take time to acquire bases in between

If you build a trade empire no level of protection can passively suppress piracy.
Until you build gateways at all planets you will see pirate fleets.

What is not a bad thing, because you can leech techs from these fleets.
Have them spawn in your core empire, close to your shipyards.

The wiki appears outdated. Pirate fleets spawn stronger, including galleons.
In the end you need gateways, or you will be facing fleets of 16k.

Are you sure you did not get them mixed up with a Marauder fleet?

TBH if you want to rely on trade, go all in with a Megacorp and Void Dwellers origin. Generate all your trade in your home system, or remote habitats just some clicks away.

Otherwise it is better to ignore trade, build generators instead. Then once you get to construct Gateways, you also get the trade value collected safe & free of costs (since the gateways project both trade collection and piracy suppression)

the base i need to connect to the capital has a gateway directly to the capital. thats why i chose to take that system.

i dont want to rely on trade... but i do want to benefit from it. was thinking about Megacorp. will probably get it in the next few days. thank you.

If it has a gateway to the capital then there shouldn't be significant piracy.

Then that route should not generate Piracy at all since the trade is teleported right to the capital.

I'm ok with piracy in general but don't like the spawning fleets, this mod helps No Pirates!
