How can I get rid of fanatic xenophile?
I want to try the nemesis system but I picked this ethic at the start. far into the game now and I've been trying for ~100 years to promote the faction that is xenophobe but they've gone from 7% total to 5% total even with suppressing every other faction

I'm willing to cheat, change my guys into robots or whatever it takes at this point. thanks

Embrace xenophobic factions after they reach 20% net support among your pops. However, you should look at the benefits of being xenophile:

1: Empires more likely to have good relations with you and thus vote with you in federations & the galactic community, reducing the need to beg for favors.

2: If you are a megacorp, the bonus trade value is priceless.

3: Free haven & refugees can help squeeze in more pops, especially with the 3.0 pop apocalypse.

4: If it's your thing, you can pick the xeno-compat perk which can help you in the 3.0 pop apocalypse.

Though, if you want to be the crisis or something like that, this all goes down the gutter. Hope you have fun :)

It really seems like you just wanted to type something and didn't actually read the post at all

I honestly recommend restarting your game. It's simpler that way.

If you really want to push through your savegame though, here's what you can do to shift ethics away from xenophile to xenophobe:

*Break all your migration pacts.
*Enslave all xeno aliens in your empire. If not possible, set their citizenship status to 'residential' so they produce no leaders.
*Find an alien species that has the 'repugnant' trait or modify the trait into xenos in your empire (valid only if you picked biological ascension)
*Sell your pops on the market and hope that a slaver empire buys them.
*Bait a rival enemy empire into declaring war on you so you fight a defensive war against them.
*Fight a war against a genocidal enemy (fanatic purifier, determined exterminator, devouring swarm.) Intentionally lose a colony containing at least one of your primary species.

^ doing all of these will shift the ethics of your pops toward xenophobe. you can find out more here:
https://stellaris.paradoxwikis.com/Ethics#Governing_Ethics_Attraction

PS
You can also go through the psionic ascension path. Wait until one of your leaders becomes a chosen one through a shroud event. wait some more until you get the option to establish a divine empire with the chosen one as emperor.

This will shifty you empire's ethics to spiritualist and fanatic authoritarian--allowing you to become the crisis.

You sorta need to get pummeled by alien empires in wars they started, have some pops taken as slaves by others, most ways to turn your pops xenophobic come from other empires treating you and your pops badly...

It's not an easy shift, really. More exact info here since I can't type a novel on phone:

Thank you. I really dont want to have to restart a 25 hour+ game and I think I'll go the psionic route

A simpler way is to promote an opposite faction. Stop embracing it for now. That just wasting influence unless the faction is 20% of your pop. If you have xenophobes, then promote them otherwise any nearby ethic will do, just a bit slower. See the ethics wheel in the ethics wiki for what I mean.
Then suppress the xeno faction.
Now turn on the edict for encouraging political though. That speed this up.
You will need to break the things that encourage xeno positive relations like migration treaties. See the ethics wiki for what encourages and what discourages xeno positive relations. Some civics changes help as well.
This takes time. But it works well.
Once you hit 20% of the pop in xenophobe you embrace it and then you can change the ethic.
I can typically shift within 20 game years using this strategy.
The psionics path is an option, and also restarting.

I missed that one catch at the beginning! Apologies!
The only way to change ethics is through embracement.

Otherwise, for plan B:
To automatically make your country xenophobe through console, hit ` and type in:

effect country_add_ethic = ethic_xenophobe

or

effect country_add_ethic = ethic_fanatic_xenophobe

Edit: One thing, do effect country_remove_ethic = ethic_xenophile or ethic_fanatic_xenophile to remove the aforementioned as it will prevent you from taking the perk.

Hope this helps and sorry for the previous misunderstanding.
I also heard someone else suggest becoming the crisis as emperor. I tried to do this once and it told me I cannot do this as the leader of the imperium - just an FYI.

Honestly you are best off restarting, but you can shape your ethics away from xenophile by promoting alternatives.. but it's going to be a chore in influence.

There just isn't a good way to promote xenophobe while you're a xenophile (xenophile being the strongest faction pops will tend to go for).
