Industrial District vs Alloy Foundries
I've just purchased the latest DLC and I'm diving into a new game of Stellaris. My planet is a Machine World and I'm a determined exterminator. I have a choice of building an industrial district or an Alloy Foundry, and I'm not 100% sure what the difference is. Both seem to add +2 industrial (alloy production) jobs. I get that the Alloy Foundry can be upgraded to provide more jobs, just not how it adds jobs.

If I have two industrial districts with 2 workers each = 4 and I build an Alloy Factory do I now have 4 + 2 alloy jobs or does it add two jobs to each discrict = 4 + 4 = 8? Thanks!

As of 3.0.3, a Alloy Foundry will give a planet 2 metallurgist jobs(alloys). You will get a total of 6 metallurgists if you have 2 industrial districts and a alloy foundry.

Getting the Alloy Foundry upgrade will improve the productivity of metallurgists by +1 per job and getting the final upgrade will improve it further by +2 per job.

Thanks for filling in the missing info for me! Makes perfect sense now. :)

Plus, Foundry is a one per planet building, districts are as much as the planet size allows.

Ahh. Good to know. Is that the same for other buildings such as a research building? Thanks!

No, labs are repeatable because normal planets don't have research districts.

Makes perfect sense. So the buildings we can't duplicate are those associated with resources, minerals, food, alloys. Thanks!

Is there any way to increase the number of Envoys we have? Some research, maybe? I'm building a spy network and I'm also researching a new contact. Both are taken and I've just run into a new species. Would be nice to have three. Thanks again.

There a couple "one-only per planet" buildings to buff researchers though.
Some techs, and a one-only building later on. A handful is normal later on.

Thank you. I think I know what you're talking about. Something like that one building that boosts research for the whole planet. I'm playing and learning more. ;)
