Galactic Community - Getting support for my own resolutions
Does anyone know what I need to do to get support for my own personal resolutions? I'm trying to get a permanent council seat for my empire, but before spending 300 influence points I noticed the overlay mentioned "Weak Support" so I didn't follow through with it. Is there a strategy or way to get decent or good support to get my own ambitions passed? I am the strongest nation on the game (besides the fallen empires). I am mid game. My diplomacy score is 31k the highest, the 2nd highest (my rival) is 20.5. Everyone else is bellow that. But even being the strongest and most influential empire isn't changing the red text from saying "Weak Support" for anything I propose that increases my power in the Galactic Community.

What is my goal? To become the senate of course. But I need a permanent council seat first I think. Thanks for the help/advice.

if you keep first then you dont need second
You can get favors from other empires, typically in trade for resources, and then call in those favors to increase your diplomatic weight if that empire opposes you in a vote (essentially, you are nullifying a portion of their opposition for each favor you call in). If you call in enough favors then it might shift the decision in your direction. There is an influence cost for calling in a favor, though, so you are limited in how much influence you can wield at once even if you trade for a lot of favors.

As for actually shifting support for a resolution (for example, increasing the "weak" support to something stronger), that isn't something that you can do. The reason is that what you are seeing there is a reflection of how much support (in terms of votes) there is for the resolution, and changing the minds of the leaders of other empires isn't something that you can do. The closest you can come is to change their circumstances and in doing so change their opinions. For example, an empire might oppose granting you a permanent council seat because it does not benefit them in any way, but if you were able to vassalize that empire and then improve your relationship with them to the point that they like being your vassal, then they might support your attempt to gain a permanent seat because they see that as making their own position indirectly stronger. The same might hold for allies, or federation members, or empires with which you have extremely positive relations.

In other words, while it is far from guaranteed, the way to improve support for your resolution is to make as many empires as possible like you.

-------------

By the way, you don't necessarily need a permanent council seat in order to dominate it. All you really need is to have your diplomatic weight so high that even if all of the other members vote against you your measure will still win. Then you can vote in anything you want, including removing the other members or granting yourself a permanent seat (although at that point it will be pointless).

other concil members can veto even if you have the number,so you should work on that instead if you dont want to waste more influence

If there's an important proposition that you need to make and you don't want it vetoed (like reducing the size of the council, for example) then you can propose it between sessions and then immediately declare it an emergency measure so that it comes to vote before anyone can veto it.

Just beef your fleet power and research, i noticed that most AI's tend to go along with whoever has the most political influence in the galaxy.
So, make yourself the No.1 in those rather primitive game politics and everyone else will fall in line. It kind of makes sense, nobody would want to piss off the guy which the biggest, highly advanced fleet in the galaxy. :steammocking:
