Problems with windowed mode

When I select windowed mode it doesn't "latch" in place( most games wont let me see bottom of the screen, or i have to play on a smaller screen that is easy to click off of.). I have had this issue with many other games. It seems to be mostly steam games, as sea of thieves works. The reason I'm don't want to play on fullscreen is that it messes with discord vc windows. I'm not sure when the problem started, and I got my pc at the end of july.

If you use a standard window with the resolution of your desktop, you wont be able to easily place it in such a way that you can see everything, because the added title bar would have to leave the screen space, which your operating system tries to prevent so you don't get stuck, unable to manage that window.

If you want to play in your screen resolution but still have the benefits of windowed mode, use a borderless fullscreen window. That is what that option is for. I would recommend to use that option wherever it is available anyways.

Try this. Right click on Stellaris.exe in the Steam game folder location. Select Properties then select the Compaibility Tab. Check the box to Disable Full Screen Optimizations and then click Apply and Close the window. This setting has been know to cause various issues in Windows 10 with full screen, and windowed modes.
