Galactic Imperium Strategy
I must be missing something here. I expected a bit more from becoming Emperor.
So I am asking what is your strategy when becoming Emperor.

Some things I was not expecting:
- Emperor cannot wage war against anyone in the Imperium unless they are a rival. Well If I made it to becoming Emperor, its because I am already overwhelming and no-one is my equal, so no rivals. Basically I'm just a figure head now watching as my second in command is wiping the galaxy clean of other empires and growing.
- Crusades seem nice, but if I already wiped out all the FE's and no-one is outside the Imperium, then no crusades'.
- My second in command on the council is wiping the galaxy clean of all other empires and growing. Eventually he will be my rival, but at his rate he will most likely be larger and win the game. Yet he is the most trusted and happy ally I have. Roleplaying here, I would not want to go to war with him. I was sort of expecting some internal revolts by now in his territory but nothing.

How do you play emperor? Post your strategy.

I don't, just custodian is fine.
Heck, my first time, the AI voted ME a Barbaric Despoiler into office! ON GRAND ADMIRAL!
Well, if they insist...

Let chaos cleanse the galaxy of those benighed, misbegotten xeno's!

Imo getting emperor is more about capping off matters when you have already setup for winning, since between crusades, and crisis designations you can basically point the majority of the galaxy at any thorny problems that remain on the map. Purge off the remaining problems then pop pax galactica to enforce total peace and lock in the win while your base of power is the strongest.

Alternatively it's a big ♥♥♥♥ off button for when the galaxy has locked up in multiple federation blocks. the emp doesn't even need to be you to shatter all the fed buildup. it dosen't even need to last.

I've only gone Emperor once so I forget, can you still declare another empire as the crisis as Emperor? This is what I do as Custodian. Great fun!

I don't see any benefit in being the emperor since it likely ♥♥♥♥♥ up your ethos and disbands your federation.

Most of the things you can already do as the custodian anyway.

Simple. Maximize your millitary. And i mean REALLY maximize your millitary. Get all the bonuses to increase your millitary as well as the Imperiums millitary (which will also basically be yours). Get as many favors as possible to do what you need to do.
Then, when you + whatever favors you have outnumbers all the other votes combines, declare your enemies one by one as the end game crisis. Make sure your political power is still balanced so you dont get a revolution tho.

You'll be able to wipe out anyone you dont like. From there its self explanatory.
Then again, i tend to play a warlike authoritarian slave empire. The only species i wipe out (aside from ones that got me POd) are only the xenophobes. I hate xenophobes. Honestly, why would you waste good slaves and subjects?
