If its that toxic world one, about strange atmosphere, that one is supposed to be really hard

Curator + curator scanner on the ship reduces fail chance by about 40-50% I believe. That said, it's not a guarantee you'll come across them

I scan the Scientist avalible list every couple of years looking for the Reduced Fail Chance abilities. When you find one, dtop him/her on a science ship & sticket them in orbit of a planet while using Assist Research. Even if your race has a short lifespan it will max him out to lvl 5 pretty quick.

Its how I usually handle the higher fail anomolies.

I'm wondering if they've done something in the new patch to change anomaly difficulty? I've got a level 3 scientist with the Archaeologist skill (-25% risk failure) and he's still having a hard time with level 1 anomalies. Risks of around 15%-22%.

I'm sure it wasn't this tough before today's patch...

Either that or Archaeologist is no longer working correctly because his fail chance is identical to that of my other scientist who doesn't have the skill.

As an XCOM player, I consider 25% odds to be good.

The archeologist's wording is pretty meh, but it only works on precursor anomalies.

Oh I see! I didn't realise it classifies the anomalies differently. Oh thats a shame then, I thought I had a great scientist for a minute there :steamsad:

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Yeah, I've had the same question when I started playing, it's not really clear when it works. A bit of a shame they didn't fix that in one of the patches
