Report a translation problem
1. The black hole opens up and the machine goes inside which gives you +10% research empire wide
2. The Black Hole does not open but the Machine feels pity for us mortals and gives us the choice for +5% research or to gain Sentient A.I.
I did get a text box stating it left a piece of its hull behind, "A final gift from an odd friend."

Maybe the skills of the scientist matter? There are events with specific outcomes if your scientist has a trait. Maybe with Computers trait the result is better if you help the thing?
