How can you deal with sluggish scrolling speed?
All windows that have scrollbar, including the Outliner bar on right are really terrible to use. Even if you abandon any thought of using mousewheel and try to drag from the bar itself you realize it's so thin it's hard to grab on! On top of that it's right on the edge where the cursor goes to second monitor.

It's been suggested 3 years ago already, how have you actually been able to play this game? Serious. Where are the hundreds of upvotes to his post that would be needed?

You collapse sections, and I have the secondary monitor on the left, so my cursor doesn't go off screen when grabbing the outliner.

Like Elitewrecker PT said. Collapse sections.
By mid game, I have so many starbases and so many colonies, no amount of scroll wheel acceleration could compensate for a scroll bar.
No issues with the tiny scroll bar either. Yeah its small, but I've never not been able to grab it, use it, or fumble it. And I play on an 18" Laptop monitor.

Collapsing them is only a workaround to a problem that actually exists. Is there some valid reason for it to actually scroll so slowly? Like this Steam chat for example, it does scroll more than half a word at the time yeah? Why not acknowledge that it is a broken feature?

Besides if you have a list of ships that is 100 long then collapsing won't help you because the info is inside that thing.

You don't think it would at the very least be helpful if it scrolled faster?

My scroll wheel doesnt scroll slow at all. But then again this is an MSI gamers laptop I run, with Steelseries keyboard and mouse.

Isn't scrolling speed something windows can control?
You could also try "tiny outliner" mod, since the normal font size for the stuff there is quite big, so you scroll "faster" in the sense you scroll by more things in the same time by reducing the size of the text/icons

Collapsing section or using the (incredibly small) scroll bar on the left.
Mostly a combination of the 2

I already use x1.3 UI scaling and i can't use mods in ironman mode. I also can't control the mousewheel speed from Windows, i already tried forcing speed 100 to stellaris.exe but it has no effect. Game has full control over mousewheel. Besides using wheel to zoom in the map is already too fast so wheel on that should be slower than it now is.

You can also use Tiny Outliner mod with UI overhaul. Ironman compatible.

Using tiny outliner and collapse sections IS NOT SOLVE OF THE PROBLEM.

If you are actually getting mad about scroll speed not being to your liking when there are alternatives to it, maybe video games aren't for you.

What alternatives? You can't make big empires without fixing this issue, it's simply unplayable amount of micromanagement with a thing that would be so simple for devs to fix. You don't have to make the game playable, i have plenty other games to play in Steam library.

Something as simple as the scrolling speed being sluggish in a big @ss menu made by Paradox is really a shame! I have the exact same issue with the UI and I am surprised that this post actually received a backlash - having to manually scroll on each of my 20+ planets mid to lategame is bullsh1t! The icons of the buildings are needlessly large as well. So many mods are made to fix the UI which should've been perfect in the first place considering the price tag of the game and the DLC!!!
Why do you think the top mod is Dynamic Overhaul UI with 10000 ratings and 5/5 score??? Because Paradox didn't do their job at providing a decent UI!

It might be something specific to the computer of the person or someone missing a trick because I never found scroll speed to be slow, which is odd. Or maybe it is something intrinsic in the match/gamestyle itself like if someone somehow managed to colonize half the galaxy and I never managed that. Even playing on max size galaxy, I've never had the outliner overload to the point where I needed to scroll a lot to get where I want to go. When you say slow, how slow are you talking about? Does changing the settings in Windows help?
Zaflis Feb 28, 2022 @ 7:32am
I had screenshots of how little it scrolls per scroll in post made 2 days ago:
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/stellaris-ui-list-scrolling-speed-is-too-slow.1513187/

But yeah another issue is that the scroll knob is so thin and near the screen edge. I often click second monitor. So i don't know how you can tolerate the issue, it has put me away from playing the game for months. Why would they leave something so gamebreaking unfixed?

By slow I mean that it moves with too little sensitivity. The scrolling itself is fluent (no lag), but the sheer little amount of moving per scroll rotation is a joke. For example here in this forum when I move my scroll the tiniest detectable amount I am seeing a whole comment with several rows. When I move the same amount in the game I am revealing like half of a building! The more building I am able to select the slower and more tedious it becomes. If I change the windows settings it will reflect everything else and I shouldn't really be required to touch my windows settings as they are completely fine. I have this issue only in Stellaris. Every other game also has scroll settings in it. I am pretty much forced to play with at least 2-3 mods to solve this single issue! Tiny outliner, tiny fleets and tiny buildings so I can normally select buildings, armies, fleets and planets. And I am not even playing late game most of the time. I end most games around 2450 etc alone vs the crisis. Keep in mind those mods can cause some bugs for example I am not seeing the names of the fleets or the Pr ratio goes off the unit colored bar etc.
