Apparently (from what i have heard) having warp drives can cause the unbidden to spawn (right on top of your empire and earlier then what your endgame is set to) even with the new randomized crisis settings.
Heavy focus on psi tech, jump drives and allowing the "miraculously" recovered science ship you got back from that anomaly to live: Unbidden stuff.
Synths, synth slaves, sentient combat computers, brobot ring world FE: do you want the Contingency? Because that's how you get the Contingency.
None of the above?
Prethoryn Swarm: It's free Real Estate.
If you want something other than the Unbidden, blow up that free science ship, avoid psionics, acquire sentient toaster slaves.
It's very easy to get a form of Jump Drive long before the default Endgame Date.
The other crises are more likely to be chosen in the random roll instead, but it's balanced poorly. As a result, with default settings Unbidden are vastly more common than the other Crises.
Which is the easiest and which is most fun crises?
I want it to bne random so I don't know what is coming.
But I don't think any of this matters anymore, I recall something about crisis being completely random, equal 1/3 chance now.
