How to manage conquered systems?
Ok, well I finally manage to take a system from an enemy. But now what? I can't manage the planet or the starbase. So what do people do with the spoils? I'm almost thinking it would be better to just wipe out the planets and rebuild from scratch with my own species? Not sure even how to do that with my current tech. I know it sounds terribly inhuman or something similar since they are not humans, but it's just a game right? :steamhappy:

So what do people suggest I do with the foreign systems that seemed to be locked on planetary mgmt?

You have to finish the war before you get actual control over occupied systems and planets.
The only exception would be a total war casus belli, but most empires do not have access to those.

Once you have won a war it all depends on the type of race /civic's you play. If you were a total war empire like exterminators or devouring swarm you would gain control of the systems straight away. A normal empire gets control at the end of a conflict otherwise and has more options. So you could turns the new systems into a vassal (once they are stable) incorporate them into your empire (need to watch the deviancy) or ,enslave them. purging is an option but usually not the best /only option unless they are a total war species like devouring swarm.
Newly conquered planets are hard to stabilise , getting some of your own pops on the planet and sticking it in a new sector with an anti crime governor helps as well as making sure amenities are high, enforcer jobs are filled and if you have it a blacksite module on the system station.

I like to run gaia start and export all the alien pops to the capital, then just like a hive of ants farming aphids farm the pops lol.

For planets with large populations I really like the abduction bombardment. This spreads the influx of new pops across your planets.A new planet with 80 slave pops is hard to subdue. If you can transfer half of that beforehand the occupation is a lot easier.

Coupling this with corvee system civic works well for making sure the pops go to the desired habitable worlds or worlds stacking tall. Stealing pops not only is satisfying if you make pops cheap to move, slave makes even cheaper, but you also weaken the empires economy in the future and are able to cause massive damage to an ai even if you have to war exhaustion stalemate. You do need to have a planet that has enough habitability to put to work otherwise getting them is more of a chore than a payoff hit every time you get one.

You claim their capital if want to make sure they don't give up, then claim all the tiles near you, you want. This allows you to weaken, chunk territory at the end of stalemate and gain pops putting you well off. Doing this back to back 10 year sessions can quickly result in the demise of a neighbor. Though beware of taking too many pops in a war. Their neighbours might consider giving them defensive packs to stop your advance next war.

Normally though they are either finished in the first war or the second. And the pop gain gives you enough strength to hit the next strongest neighbour.

Some very cool stories here, but I'm just trying to stabilize the populations of the planets I gained from a victory in the war. I've declared martial law and distributed goods on these planets, but this is going to take more work. Need to build some precincts and halo theaters? Not sure how to enslave anybody yet, but I'm very open to it :steamhappy:, That is if somebody can explain to me how I go about doing that. Thanks!

Take a look at this page, I could explain but would take 30 min in what you will figure out looking at pictures. You can trace these setting to your in game to see whats going on. Oh believe me I could fill this whole page in ways describing how to use certain combos.

You will need to go into the second bottom tab on left side, the one that looks like a dna. In there you have settings for what species will get by default, and set the rights and standards of whatever species you want to slave. There should be a lock symbol so you can stop the menu form annoyingly opening or closing. Its for whatever style you like.
