Stellaris
How 2 pure communism?
Before I start this topic, I ask you to restrain yourself from political argument ("communsim gud", "communism bad", etc). I just want suggestions about making communist "empire" closest to original idea of it, I'm not following actual politics. Be reasonable

So, I like how Stellaris portrayed Communism the way it meant to be originally. Utopic society of absolute equality and stuff. And I wonder... How exactly could I build my nation to be closest to original communism, before it was changed by subsequent party leaders, and those who earned reputation of tyrants?

Any suggestion is welcome

Only true Comunist can be achieved by Borg! Seriousely I see all non geneneric Machine Hive minds as good template for some form of communism.
Borg/Assimilators -> violent conversion to communism and breaking any dissent by implanting Brain-Machine interface
Servitors -> they are really trying to create Communist utopia for bio pops
Exterminators -> Forcibel conversion all bio to pure digital form and continutation of exitence in VR is some form of digial communism in this case you can think of Exterminatros as some kind of servitors

:steamhappy:

I get it now. To build "original" communism (the way it portrayed in Stellaris and the way Marx meant it as impossible utopia) and not "traditional" (totalitarism, police state, etc.) I need Materialism and/or Xenophilia (scientific atheism and internationalism)

Thank you for suggestions and special thanks for the mod link
As mentioned, full egaleterian, shared burden ect. You can make your pop to be communal ect. You can get pretty close to the utopian communism.
I've actually role-played USSR by enabling Hegemony federation. It really shines how you "invite" new members into your red block by declaring a war ;)

True Trockism at its best, if you know what I mean

You pretty much nailed it.

Marx meant it as impossible utopia
I strongly disagree, it's all about "government" controlled means of production, not the private. An preferably minimal corruption level advised. That's it pretty much, have a great communism, you are welcome :)
mod the game to play necrophange shared burdens but loose 30% of those pop necrophanged. Only build alloys, dont worry about consumer goods or food. Cannibalism has been very common in communist regimes in the past so dont forget to make some of the minorities food stock.
Hive Mind would be your best choice. They speak in one voice nonetheless their species.
As i am playing your arch enemy (corporation ruled by a psionic nobility) you should take advise in consideration.

I like the idea. However this isn't "original" communism with it's utopic unrealistic ideas. And neither "traditional" with all well-known cons.

This is more like "twisted" communism. Destroyed identity to create abolute unity. "Goal justifies means" type.

But I like the idea. Also, what do you think about Driven Assimilator? This can be portrayed as twisted communism as well
For idealistic communism, Shared Burdens is the obvious start point, and that requires Fanatic Egalitarian. That leaves one Civic and one Ethic.

For 'fluff' options, nothing immediately jumps out, although Functional Architecture and Byzantine Bureaucracy fit the bill and are always useful. If you want to play the "Spread the Revolution" style, you could take Diplomatic Corps or Free Haven. Meritocracy is a great min-maxing option, stacking with Fanatic Egalitarian for a huge Specialist resource boost.

For traits, anything that boosts Specialist output has good synergy. If you took Meritocracy, getting Talented and Quick Learners is good.
If you want it to be actual idealized communism as in the Utopic one, Fanatic Egalitarian, and either Xenophile or Materialist is appropriate (moreso materialist). Shared Burdens and probably conservation or Meritocracy.

Useful and accurate.

If you want Soviet Union Communism, Fanatic Authoritarian Militarist with 2 military civics.

You can't, because Stellaris plays in the future.
I mean, which true communism? Depending on your interpretation, it could be anything from agrarian inward perfection, through a militaristic shared burden, to "actually, can't do it in Stellaris at all because the entire idea of a space empire is completely antithetical to communism" - a "true communism" space game in that sense would be more about building relationships between a local, likely sub-planetary, community and its closer and more distant neighbors (and yes, space would likely be little more than a theme then).

I generally go with militaristic shared burden, but that's more about "communism that's fun to play in Stellaris" than "real communism." FWIW I'd dispense with materialism, Stellaris materialism and communist dialectic materialism are two very different beasts, sharing little more than a name.
Just Have your food production on a negative and youll basically have achieved it.

If you would like to see communism as an utopia, you might see the central AI or Hivemind as an avatar of the Greater Good, that leads your citizens/ drones into the right direction.
A driven assimilator could be some sort of Culture, like in Ian Banks books (They are ruled by AIs).
rogue servitor might also work for a communism that didn't fail. all that talk about means of production etc. became irrelevant a long time ago and people live in a utopian hedonistic anarchy and machine drones do all the work from menial tasks to research all the way to politics and war :)
