Stellaris
So... you can "Purge" prepatent species to turn them into your primary too, eh?
I'm sure most people know this already, but I thought there might be some people who don't know this yet like I did.

There is a new purge option called Necrophage, which turns the affected species into your primary species rapidly. Yes, it's only available to Necrophages of course.

Seems like somebody put wrong information on the Stellaris Wiki too. The *Purged* pop DOES NOT take 10 years to change into your primary species. Each time the designated pop is *purged* (every 5 months), it is immediately converted into your primary species.

If you don't mind the diplomacy penalty (heck, the default Necrophage empire is Fanatic Xenophobes. What do you care about the opinions of them filthy Xenos? lol), and need more of your primary species quickly, you can thus just purge the xenos. The diplomacy penalty is also much smaller than regular purging. It's called "Mysterious Disappearances", instead of Genocidal, and most empires (Non-xenophiles) don't even care at all, lol.

This also means Fanatical Purifiers can also be Necrophages. They even gain Unity for *purging* the xenos.

I am curious because I found I couldnt change purge types without turning on a purge. Can non purifier necrophages purge into primary species or is it restricted to the purifier type?

Non purifiers can do it (i assume you might need to be some level of xenophobes so you get the option to purge aliens, but you do not need to be fanatical purifiers).

I tend to set it as the default species right in my empire, so when i invade a primitive world they start getting necrophage purged, once a couple of them have been converted i change their species rights to slavery instead.
@Cryten Yeah, Garatgh Deloi already answered that for you, haha. Any Xenophobic Necrophages can do it.
The 10 years thing is specifically from using the Chamber of Elevation. Every 10 years, it necrophages all pops working in it into your primary species. Its a constant source of extra pops since your primary species cannot naturally grow (but your prepatent species can). Because of this, its a good idea to not purge your prepatent species so you don't get growth-blocked and resettle at least one of the prepatent species to any newly colonized planets.
Is it a 100% thing? I abducted a crap species from one of my starting planets and started to purge them into my own, but unless I missed something it just died and I didn't get one

You have to set them as undesirables, then change the purge type to necrophange. 1 pop per month is converted.

I would recomend starting with a race of lithoid necros with venerable (lol yeah) and have a race of human rapid breeders as workers. This just gives u more pop, they convert in the chamber and then you necrophange the undesirable other races nearby. Move one of your rapid breeders pops to each planet so they will start to breed on each planet.

It is 100%. Every time one of the xeno pops is "Purged", you'll get one pop of your primary race. As lubed_assassin mentioned, you have to set the Purge Type to Necrophage (available only to necrophages). Regular purging methods (extermination, etc.) will still work normally.

One problem is, there now seems to be a bug where the "Raiding" planetary bombardment doesn't work proper with necrophages. I tried that yesterday, only to see that the supposedly "Abducted" pops simply disappear (as if just killed). So necrophages can't really make use of the Nihilistic Acquisition perk.

This new dlc is so full of bugs that I'm starting to think Assdox don't even test-play their own games. (sigh)

I don't recommend you doing it early on, as your main species grow much slower.

So unless you can get a consant influx of new pops to "purge", you're going to want a secondary species to grow faster.

Yeah, thanks for pointing this out. There's also the fact that Necrophages have a work resource penalty, so you want to keep enough secondary species' pops for worker jobs.

I noticed the issue. You should be able to fix it by toggling all pops in the galaxy and changing them back to slavery instead of undesirable. I think it has to do with either the selection of undersired or necrophange purge.... I can steal pops but after i change it, it didn't work.

You just need to move your "breeder" servant pop to the new planet and ti will reproduce quickly because how it decides which pops are born. I only have two pops, one that grows my main pop and does worker jobs and the main pop.

No breeding for pops being "purged"
You can only purge if you're a necrophage xenophobe, that's why it's not mentioned. A lot of things have little secrets based on combinations like that.

Furthermore, the Chamber of Elevation is what takes 10 years.

I don't have this problem, are you sure you aren't automatically purging them? I'm using barbaric despoilers, same raiding stance

you start with two races, you dont purge your first race. You use them to create bodies slowly for your main race. Your purge everything else you cant find a use for. Here's a screenshot 100 years in with over 300 total pops. My main race is 2-1 because i've taken 3 pre-sentient planets and 2 homeworlds.

I'm trying to get thrall worlds and the other breeding perk so I can crank up the reproduction.

Anyone know if there's a way to choose which Necrophage pop type I want to convert to once subspecies start becoming a thing, short of stripping my empire of all chambers short of the planet they're on? I got the Horizon Signal event in my game and (praise be to the Worm, the Worm loves us) I have a large portion of my necrophage and prepatent population set to Tomb habitability. With various modifiers they are now basically at 90% habitability for all worlds, so I want to be sure they are the only ones that reproduce going forward.
